Maybe with enough people referencing that sale, they had to crack down it it. Bummer...

Mastercraft CXT are $213 each... personally I think they’d perform a bit better in the winter due to additional sipping. But have no experience with either tires

i have dedicated winter tires so that wasn’t much of a factor for me. Everything else I’ve seen in these tires has seemed good and I’m hoping with being a tiny bit smaller I’ll have a better chance to fit the spare on my DCLB.

I can't stomach paying for a tune on the Taco. Don't care enough about HP. Linear throttle response would be nice. In the end, I have other fun cars.

Linear throttle response is literally what OVT is designed for.... Among other things.

I have been considering this route, too. There are a lot more choices with a 17 inch rim.

I’ve been trying to research how the new 4 runner 17” non pro wheels would effect tire fitment. I want to say somewhere I saw that they have a bit more offset but don’t quote me on that.

We went with the 255/85 R16s . Plain and simple, did not want to get other wheels.

Our mileage is just about the same over 8 tanks. Not from the MFD as that (as far as I know) can't be corrected w/o getting something else.

Here is what my wife and I figured out....some of this will be anecdotal stuff from the change from stock to ours.....

    1. Little higher on getting into the truck. LOL......
    2. ZERO noise issues. We noticed nothing but we do have a Prinsu and some other mods.
    3. Tires are GREAT! Several trips over 1000 miles of fire roads and places we should not have gone.......(they work) Zero issues.
    4. Subjective....from my standpoint as I already have tons of weight for armor, roof, DB and camping gear.....no changes
    5. Acceleration, perhaps a "tiny" bit getting out of a turn with a stop light, but nothing major.
    6. Pen to paper....this one will be tough. I found that we gained "yes" gained about .2 mpg
-- I think it is because I drive it a bit different. Not sure but since the new tires are on, I find myself not SLAMMING the skinny pedal down.
    7. Off road.....no comparison....LOVE the tires! I honestly was kind of hesitant on what we had....now I simply don't care. They just work.

I think that the "Skinnies" we have are perfect for us.

To the question posed. DD is great with us. Fire roads and off-shoots no issues whatsoever! BUT.....Baja? No experience with that. From prior experiences with the Jeep I found that wider tires work better in sand. However, at our trip in the Great Sand Dunes, we just aired down a tad bit and the Taco did great with the tires....

Someone else may be better served to say how the different tires you mentioned would work. I will tell you this though....we run a shit ton load of gear in the back of our Taco....last weighed on "Trip stuff" we had 900 lbs in the back and no issues with our tires.

Looks like your running stock wheels, is there any lift, or is that stock height? How’s the tire clearance?
Had 255/80/17 Cooper STT Maxx on on my GX470, loved them

So here is what we did.

The stock wheels are good. Not pretty but they are solid and are paid for.

    1. ZERO LIFT
    2. STOCK HEIGHT
    3. Clearance is no issue and that was something I wanted to try out!
-- The ONLY time we had ONE issue was when we Stuffed it and I was loaded on top rack and about 900lbs of crap in the back.
-- We had a MINOR rub on the passenger wheel well and it was a SLIGHT rub.

So I would say No rubbing unless you are an idiot like me and went too fast on a decline I had no business doing anyhow.

I had ZERO issues that would need a CMC whatsoever. The minor rub we had was so minor I wouldnt even know if I hadn't read stuff on Tacoma world. 99% of the time it works flawlessly.

    I hope that makes sense

EDIT...is clearance an issue? No....however we did test in snow probably 4 times this year and no issues with snow/ice build up. What I would like to see in the upcoming months is how these work on ICE/Hardpack.
I havent had the opportunity to test it but if they dont work like a snow tire does I MAY consider siping them....again havent tested but do not see a reason to do so/

Front tire clearance from a pic we took Close in front. No issues though

    Another shot for perspective.

Again no issues. BUT I will say when they are put on go to a good alignment shop/person you trust as when these go on you WILL need to simply blow off the Standard Tacoma alignment.

The back of the tires will not be an issue whatsoever if on Stock wheels. The Front has about a "quarter" aka the coin.

The only issue for us on STOCK wheels and NO LIFT was with a HARD turn and going too fast ...operator error....but SLIGHT rub on the passenger side front wheel well.

Do you have any other pics of the whole side of the truck with the 255/85/16?

thanks. That is what I needed to know. Thinking I will go to 255/80/16 from your write up and I like the write up on MPG.
I ran Cooper ST Maxx in the mountains of Colorado, but never had them on real snow pack or ice, I would buy them again. I would like lighter tires, but I really like the extra protection of a 10 ply tire. I had a rock tear through the middle of a new 4runner tire a few years ago.
I got a set of second set of Tacoma wheels and tires for $300 for the spare and my trailer, I like the idea of matching wheels and Tacoma wheels are cheap.

    Great!

    Our t
So we have "Snow" scheduled tomorrow....I will just say this!

WE haven't had a big snow here on Monument hill.

Ill test it this weekend for the drive.

One thing that the ST/MAXX tires lack is the cuts (siping)

Since they are new I will test them this weekend.

OK, 2021 Tacoma TRD off-road. I have falcon shocks ready to go on Friday and lt255/85r16 Cooper ST Maxx. Everything should fit with no rubbing but now I either need wheel spacers for the rear Falcon Shocks or cut the shock bucket so they don’t rub a stock offset wheels. If I end up installing the rear spacers I want to install them on the front also, will the tires still fit without rubbing?

How would they rub the rear shock bucket with stock wheels?

Since you know.... They're stock. They don't rub. Unless the image in my head is just wrong

photos belong to someone else on here, top photo is of the shock bucket cut already, second photo is of how the shock ends up orientated if you have stock wheels and choose to cut the bucket so the shock reservoir doesn’t rub on the tire. Third photo is of a truck with aftermarket wheels with more negative offset and shock installed without cutting shock bucket.

so I want to avoid cutting and ordered 1.25” wheel spacers but now I’m wondering if the 255/85R16 coopers (not installed yet) will rub on the front if the spacer is used.
