Tacoma wipers are weaker than a lot of vehicle wipers. But certainly not the weakest I’ve used.

There is an updated cowl cover released for a TSB. Not sure how much that would of helped. I should of had it change it out when I worked there.

And it’s crazy people can claim they live in harsh environments and never had their wipers iced over or frozen to the windshield. Any little ice storm will do that. And a heavy wet snow storm and freeze will certainly freeze them up. I will flip my blades up at work or something if I know a bad storm is coming. Keeps the wipers clean and allows me to clean the windshield off with a brush without the wipers being in the way or the need to bang them on the glass to break off the ice. At least the beam style don’t freeze up nearly as bad as the traditional.

The amount of times I have had to go back outside and unstick wipers (after brushing the windows off) is mind blowing. And I only drove in Alaska less than 15 years.
Putting wipers up when snow was expected has saved so much frustration. Forget often though..

My complaint about the wipers is in combo with the factory remote start. If you forget to turn the wipers off after your last trip of the day, when you remote start the next morning, the wipers come on.Not a good thing if they are frozen to the windshield. This didnt happen with my previous truck,a 2016 F-150 with factory remote,or my sisters 2020 Nissan Kicks.

If they are left 'on' when the vehicle is turned off, don't understand why they don't start when the vehicle does.

Neither Ford or Nissan has any magic tricks I'm aware of.

    Work in progress...
Why the hell did the auto builders start making the wipers in two different sizes on a vehicle? It's not like the windshield is different sizes on the passenger and driver's side.

Ask a Canadian, we deal with this for 6,7 months...no kidding. I never had my wipers pointed up but might not hurt. A good scraper with long handle and a good brush that's all one needs. Never activate your wipers when they're cemented in ice because two things will happen within seconds...blow a fuse or burn the electric motor...and don't cheap out on windshield washer fluid, get the -40, -45 if available in your area:thumbsup:!

When i detail the cars late fall and put a good coat of paint sealant on, i also apply to to windows, light housing covers, etc. Basically everything that isn't black trim and the snow, rain always beads or slides right off the cars.

    Another tip.

Rain-X the windshield in the fall before snow flies. It makes removing frost, ice and snow easier.

Nothing magic...they don't enable the wipers until you open the door(the vehicle does not shut off)get in and turn the key to the on position in the Ford or press the start button on the Nissan.

I live in New Brunswick so pretty much the same weather. I also find the wipers are not the best. I find it helps to rain x a few times throughout the winter and leave the wipers up for any type of mixed precip. I find it the worst with mixed / freezing rain on the highway if you don’t keep the defrost going pretty hot the wipers get caked up and just smear the ice across the windshield.
