Ah, didn't know this was the HPT work. I have finally added the tunes done by them. Change was noticeable even in my trucky (coming up on 12 years now).

As far as me, just living in the virtual world. We haven't been allowed back in the office since Mar, and will probably be Feb-Mar before we are. WFH can get to be a PITA after a while though.

Sure did - @DownhillDragon did a great job. Instant response on throttle, etc. worth every penny IMO.

@jmdaniel - haven't tried pedal commander so cannot speak to that but sounds like you are thrilled with the response you are getting.

The Cedar Park Toyota seems to have good people working there, I started taking my truck there after a bad experience at the Austin Toyota dealer not named AutoNation, where I originally purchased the truck. I now have both my truck and my wife's car serviced there with good results. Ask for Daniel, as a service advisor, he is an off road enthusiast (FJ), and gets our needs.

I've "sold" a few, to fellow Tundy owners. My best bud lives in MN, and was up there in November of '19 to visit. He ordered one off Amazon, and I threw it in, a 5 minute job. We went for a test drive, and his exact words were "HOLY :censored:"!

I'm not disparaging tunes, but I looked at the guy that does them for Tundras, out of the DFW area, and compared the cost, having to hassle with an in person tune, (there is a slight difference if a customer does it themselves), and the issues some folks were reporting, the fact a LOT of owners then changed their exhaust system, post tune, and I decided to go PC.

I've been wanting to do this for a while, but have no interest in buying the necessary Windoze laptop. Can't pass up $250 to a local guy to just get it done.

It looks like Dragonhill uses OV Tune. They don't support 2nd gen the same as 3rd gen.

Hey Will. Yeah I traded in the Tacoma and ended up in an F-150. Two very different trucks! I loved my Tacoma but needed way more space and towing capability.

Dang, been MIA for two days and get blown up! Haha, work has been busy and I've been heads down, but looking forward to a fun day off tmrw, meetin up with @EchoDeltaSierra to spread some Taco fire on his truck and talk shop!

Yeah man, turns out @mday01 lives literally a few houses down from my sister's old place, so I know the spot, sucks we couldn't all meet up Sunday to drink and watch football, I wanted to pick your brain about ADS since my custom set comes in hopefully this week! I've known the ADS guys since WAY back in the day, I used to live in Tucson and when I owned a Longboard Racing company, ADS was one of our CNC shops that made our longboard trucks... 6061 Aluminum hangars and baseplates with 4140 Chromoly Axles. It comes full circle, years later I'm into offroading and I'm a customer of theirs once again.

I've heard good things about Pedal Commander, and before digging into OVTune stuff I was looking into one. Never directly spoke to anyone who had it until I tuned a dude who took it off when I tuned his Tacoma. He said the tune was way better, and I just reached out to him now that he's had it for a few weeks to get his exact words on the comparison, since he's the only person I personally know whose had both. Will try to remember to update!

Update: here's what he said "The pedal commander on higher settings is way too touchy. The OV Tune is the exact proportion of sensitivity and acceleration. Instead of having to switch back in forth between modes, it's just an all around perfect tune"

    Yes.

This is apparently in the works, and be damn sure I'm going to be the first guy on board. I'm learning all I can to be able to offer more and more custom work. Apparently I'm the first guy on tundras.com to unlock an ECU and start playing with it (instead of the old method of just getting custom work from OVTune directly). I'm waiting for OVtune to send me their recommended Tundra tune right now (any day now... I already paid for it) so I can see how close I got to what he recommends. My one Tundra customer so far reported back better performance, and without implying who he is, he has driven more Tundras than anyone that any of us know, I can safely say.

Glad we're finally getting this scheduled, since your new truck is too badass to leave stock for long!

There are 4 main settings, (Eco/City/Sport/Sport+), with 8 settings within each of those, from -4 to +4. That is a total of 32 settings, and what I think most people do is find something they are comfortable with and leave it set at that. I do agree the settings in Sport+ are touchy, but that's kinda the point; I broke the ass end loose on the Tundy in a WalMart parking lot, at half throttle in Sport+, + 4, while demoing the PC to a fellow Tundra owner who liked my truck.

My set it and forget it is City, +2, and the controller is tucked under the dash. I can change the setting with my iPhone, via Bluetooth, but can't remember the last time I did. Anyway, the PC works for me, over a tune, for the reasons I mentioned above. It's great to have choices!
