That is really awesome man, thanks for posting all of that for OP.

That said I'm very surprised those screws would be standard, if I had to guess I'd say they're probably supposed to be metric, but a standard screw works in them. With something that small the thread engagement being off slightly wouldn't cause noticeable issue, but we're it scaled up you would have some binding or looseness I suspect.

yes. if you ordered the wire from the dealership, itll have one wire coming from that plug going to your horn, and then itll have the other two wires that will go to your cruise control stalk.
if you arent comfortable putting a paperclip into the plug to see if it lights up the cruise control switch, you can always remove the old plug, put the new one in and hook it to the CC stalk and press the button on the stalk to turn it on. if youre prewired, the dash will pop up on the light

Also, the reason I end up asking similar questions in their own threads is because posts get jumbled together and it's really hard to find important stuff; Thanks @Levalexi!

Just another consideration, remove your battery from the truck and connect the two leads together for one minute to drain any residual charge in the truck before disconnecting your airbag. It's probably a paranoid practice but anytime I have to pull an airbag that's what I do; I would hate for something to get crossed or shorted and set it off.

absolutely. i just did this recently on my manual, but its not finished because my clutch bracket is bent somehow. i pulled my stalk out of a prius in my local pick n pull and reused those screws. theyre just screwing into plastic, so i would think whatever you had on hand that would grab would work

The only think I'm not comfortable with is removing the airbag; Once one of my experienced friends (my mechanic or the body shop owner who fixed my truck after I got hit by a drunk driver) removes the airbag, I'll be fine!

How do you do that? Repeatedly blast the horn or turn the key a couple of times?

you can always remove the battery and then pull the airbag out. this is what i did, but i knew i was prewired for CC, so i didnt have to test. you can always pull the battery, remove the airbag and unplug it and then attach the battery again to test for prewire.
i was just going to say what key-rei suggested haha

It's dead simple, there's two t30 I believe they might be t35 torx head screws, and if I remember correctly from pulling mine out which I've done two or three times now, they don't actually come all the way out They just loosen up they're captive and stuck in a bracket of the airbag, but you pop the round bolt covers off loosen the screws up all the way and wiggle the airbag back and forth while pulling towards you gently and it comes right out, then just a pick or screwdriver to disconnect the plug and you're set.

    LoL what?

No you pull the leads off your battery under the hood, remove the battery from the truck, then the two terminals connected to the large wires going into your truck from the battery, you just touch those together and hold them there for one minute.

Truck could be getting cruise control as early as this Friday! Pete is a former Volvo tech who has experience installing/removing/replacing airbags, so he has no problem removing the airbag for me! Let's just hope my truck is actually prewired!

Also, my truck does in fact have the "CRUISE" light on the instrument cluster; Obviously it's never lit up, but it is there...

Does this definitely mean my truck has cruise control, or did they put the same gauge cluster in every 2nd Gen Tacoma? I'm also guessing that Tacos with the locking rear diff have a different indicator light than lower-end models equipped with the Auto-LSD (like mine)?

What do I do if my truck is NOT prewired?

I remember aftermarket CC kits from years ago, they used something like a hose clamp that held magnets on the driveshaft.

Okay, so I have the cruise control stalk, the rest of the parts are on order and should be here today or tomorrow, and I’m going to the dealer tonight to get the specific screws I need; What if my truck is not prewired for cruise control? Am I SOL?

My truck does in fact have the indicator light in the gauge cluster; Is this a good sign, or did all 2009-2010 trucks get the same instrumentation?
