well its gets down into the mechanism. You can't get it that much better with it out of the door honestly. the gap by the actual latch lets in all the fluid.

 

It looks like it is kind of a bitch to get it out of the door too.

WTF First it was the 3.4L sounds like dog farts and now this.

 

What’s wrong with your latches? My rear driver door latch seems to keep dropping down after I open the door. So every time some opens and closes the door it’s slams against the latch. Doesn’t close. Unless I use my finger to pry open the latch then close the door.

 

Have you ever smelled brake clean and PTFE spray. That's not a smell I want lingering inside my cab. WD-40 is like the most mild thing ever, you could spray it all over your body and be fine hell it even cleans leather

 

I hate it when I get some on me or my clothes. It lingers.

Speaking of smells... I am doing a drain and fill on the trans and used the @drr recomended Valvoline Max Life. Now that's a smell you wont soon forget.

 

Yeah I had to put 10 quarts of that in the cruiser when I did my drain and fill. I had to pull the pan down to change the solenoids and I got covered in it. Terrible stuff

 

It has just gotten really stiff. it feels almost like I'm going to break the handle off just trying to open it. I am hoping that it's just dirty.

 

No MT-90? I think I still have another year or two of that around, but boy, it's pricey.

I am still working on this. I did mention I work slow, right? Between weather, work, lighting, and the kid's XJ acting up, I haven't had the time to finish this.

Got the clutch swapped out. "Wore slap out" doesn't begin to describe it. I was getting into wear indicator #3 of 4. I went with an Exedy replacement kit from Rockauto. Super fast delivery and a great price as well. Fortunately I was planning ahead when I tracked it down, because the clutch started deteriorating rapidly over the last week- I doubt I'd have gotten to and from work another day.

Got everything replaced- but the tranny is giving me trouble lining up. I can't seem to get it to go that last 1/2-3/4". Will be trying again Friday, if the weather holds, as I'm off.

 

Throw it in gear and rotate the output flange a bit, might get you that last little bit of slip. DON'T draw it in with bolts!

 

Trans mating is the biggest headache I know.

 

I did, but the trans was clean. Front diff had some water but nothing else did.

 

That looks sketchy. You guys are braver than me. Water looks like it was moving fast as hell.

 

it wasn't brave, it was stupid. I don't know why we didn't just turn around. Though I guess I'm to blame for that.

I always have WD40 around, but there's definitely better lubricants.

I think I used Triflow or Boeshield on my door latches.

 

Ahh, right. See, I think he was the one who recommended the MT-90 to me originally, but maybe that's what he uses in his transfer case and diffs. I'm not wealthy enough to use it there, but I do put it in the transmission.

It seems to make the transfer case in my LC (which has gearsets for high and low because it's fulltime offset with a differential) much quieter. Didn't really make a difference in the manual trans so I switched to amsoil severe gear
