A Roo Bar comes to mind. I also protected the tail lamps. It is a farm and you back over stuff; Willows mostly. All of the factory options are on it. The dealership owner bought it for himself. He put a topper on it and pricey tyres. The Power Wagon does the heavy lifting.
Say I tune it to 450ASL here and I want to go to Denver 5,280 ASL. Is this really worth not leaving it stock?
If in fact Stock is OK.
I am a Pilot. I know of density altitude. So if I change barometric pressure the stock chip will do that?
While I am being stupid, does anyone know why barometers do not hold setting?
If you take off from the same field today you will adjust the altimeter. Bad things happen to people who forget.
A fighter jock did a loop on takeoff without reseting. He joined the Martin Baker club.
The idiot had a vidio in the cock pit. You could see that he was not going to make it. One pranged plane . No injuries.
    Beaucoup fitness report.

Very interesting, so I should look into that MAF calibrater from URD since there is no sense in running rich in traffic.

That looks a lot like Volants airbox? Can you post more pics please?

It is not Volant, TRDs CAI is being made by AFE

If you can get Kevin to post a pic with his engine cover removed you can see the resemblance better.

I also believe that the AFE version is roughly half the price of the TRD becasue the lid on the air box doesn't say TRD on it. :)

Ah cool. Is it still made out of steel? If it is that is the worst material for a airbox. Heat soak to the extreme.

Nope no steel in it, it's all plastic, with an aluminum cover for the air box.

That is good to hear. They used stamp steel for a while. That was really bad.

Ok so is the URD TCAI really worth getting?..i thought the pic looked cool..and if its true that the air is 30 degrees cooler than anywhere in the hood..thats a good drop in temp as far as im concerned..anyone have it or thinking of getting it..just wanna get some opinions from others and see what everyone thinks..

If we are talking about the one that has the filter in the front of the car? On a rainy day that thing will get so wet it will restrict airflow. Also say you hit a big puddle the water could get sucked into the motor. Then that means all new top end or more.

Keeping the filter isolated inside the bay is safe. TRD, AFE, and Volant sheild it the best and allow great cold air flow.

I actually had Tucci Engineering install Urd Maf.I am looking for someone to tune it but no one has a dyno where I am at and I don't know how to do it with wideband. But it sure runs great and can't wait to get it tune and the sound of the TRD exhaust and TRD Cai combined is better than tunes.
One guy told me $200 doing wideband thinking about that but it is alot of runs with the truck

ok i know these are pictures from my colorado BUT you guys should give this mod a try. it made a nice difference in my truck.

Run a tube (3" diameter seems to be the best) from your CLOSED off stock intake box down to the bumper or behind the grill or some other lower location without putting too many bends in the line.

as for your piping from the air box to your TB a nice straight pipe is also good to have:

final product looks stock and clean but will give you better performance than a $300 k&n or aem or w/e company sells stuff for the tacos:

its intuitive but as another poster made me aware..for us guys that do more than ground pounding with our trucks..like i do..if i get into a big puddle or some other decent body of water or mud..its all going inside that tube..

its great that you made this up..i think its awesome but probably not good for me since i off road my truck alot and wouldnt wanna take that risk

yeh we had a solution for the offroad guys.. run the tube as far as behind the grill and install a screen over the entry to keep out chunks. leave the stock air inlet open and then drill a 1/2" hole in the bottom of your air box. w/e slight amount of water does get in wont stay in. unless your hardcore...but then just get a snorkel!

yeh they have the cold air tube but its usually ran to below the bumper but they have the tube going to below the filter which is prob not as effective. their systems are SICK tho.

OK I ordered the volant intake and Scoop. Not sure if I will install the scoop or not. If it is below the bumper as you say then I think I will return it. The best design would be to ram air from the left side of the grill into the intake.

Now AFE VS Volant. The designs look almost the same. However from the pics the MAF is placed differently and the AFE tapers down while Volant looks to have no diameter change. In theory that means the AFE would flow better as the air speed would increase as it moves to the motor.

AFE has no "numbers" posted but Volant Does.

So the question is which one will be the best. We are talking probably 1 hp diff but do any of these designs hurt the low end?

ya when i was installing my trd cai, some of the parts where marked afe. so it is the same intake. although im not sure on the afe being cheaer because it doesnt say trd. ive seen the afe listed on several places for around 400.00 and the trd listed at around 300.00. both alot i know but worth looking into.
