This reminds me of the questionable memory sizes in Blackberries.

Just got the TSB performed.....went in for the fuel pump recall but they had the wrong pump! Highlander pumps wont work in Tacomas apparently. :frusty: Haven't driven it yet but hoping it drives better now.

The dealer did it no charge....bad news is that is all I got. The fuel pump they ordered was for a Highlander so they had to reorder a Tacoma one which will take at least a week to get then have to go back.

    Eibach stage 1 -wheeler’s 2” aal-spc uca’s FN 5 Star w/Falken Rubitrek AT 265/70r17. Nitro 4:88’s KDMax tuned Leer 100r
So for those that may be considering a re-gear....

    04b33 works great with 4:88’s.
I only have 320 miles on my gears (so not broken in) and 04b33 but damn!
This turned out to be a very good combo so far. ZERO gear hunting highway and city. Huge improvement in drivability! “Dead pedal ” feel is gone. Shifting seems spot on!
So far averaging 17.9 mpg (mix city/highway) per dash and I drive sportily. Really didn’t care much about mpg but I’m getting 1.5mpg better than I was before and my gears are not broken in yet. Hope the ecu doesn’t “learn” to screw this up...lol

Again, huge difference for the better. Can’t wait to get gears broken in and try it out towing my boat!

    Question:
Did you have a battery charger hooked-up to your battery during this 20 minute process?

I did not have a batter charger hooked up nor my laptop. The entire process took about 10-15 minutes.

Update: I just needed to ask the right questions with the service manager and they took care of it. Very helpful and honest re:how Toyota deals with TSBs. I learned something, he categorized it as a "customer satisfaction issue" and they took care of it in about 15 min. So far, all reports of improvement are accurate in my experience---dead pedal issue gone, shifting feels like it's supposed to feel...basically more responsive.

Good to hear! I've been following this thread and reached out to my dealership today. They said they won't do anything until I receive a letter in the mail specifically for my vehicle. Said that some trim levels are prioritized over others (I have a TRD Off Road). I might take a drive down there and show them the TSB with the VINs listed and see if they will be more willing to do it. Good to know that it should only take them 15 minutes.

They might have thought you were referring to the fuel pump recall.

That is a shame about the pump - got mine done as well as the TSB (no charge). Good luck

TSB done today. There is definitely an improved feel to the truck. I'm not sure about any fuel economy increase, but I didn't buy a hybrid.

Finally got a chance to drive my commute to work on this TSB. It definitely holds gears better on hills, especially if it had to downshift. Previously on a steep hill - it would drop a gear, then upshift near the top, only to have a downshift again. With this TSB it held the downshift gear the entire hill and even quite a bit past the crest. It didn't upshift again until well after the road had leveled out.

Were/are you an ECT mode user?

That experience was normal mode. I didn't use ECT enough previously to comment on any changes there.

I have used ECT to overcome the previous pitfalls, however since the TSB application there is no need to. I'd say, from my ECT experience, that the new TSB application is a little less than ECT. I agree that the shifts do not occur nearly as much, which is welcome.

I just put 100 miles on my ‘19 Pro after having my local dealer install TSB 0092-20 last week. The 6-speed auto transmission used to hunt up and down endlessly and drove me nuts. I am glad to report that the TSB was well the inconvenience of taking my truck to the dealer. Much less gear hunting and the truck is now a pleasure to drive. Highly recommend!!!
