Where can I go to get my lift installed on my 2016 Tacoma? A mechanic?... a truck specialist?

I’m not very mechanical inclined and want my bilstein 5100s and add a lead professionally installed. Where should I go to get it done?

Well first thing that will help is to list where you are from? 2nd is to post this in your local area forum on this site, as many fully equipped members on here will do it for pizza and beer.

Host a mod day with some local buddies and do it yourself. You will learn A TON and it will only cost you some pizzas and beer.

Get some friends if you can. Craigslist has some listings under services>>Auto. Otherwise pay more at a shop. One quoted me $1050 and one $850. Other two never returned calls.

I'm running into that same problem and my friends have less tools than I do so, no-go on that front.

If you are in the Northeast, like I am, good luck! There are a few places that specialize in this kind of thing but they are hard to find, expensive and some of them have quite the attitude. Ask me how I know! If you are in the West it seems like there are a ton of great places and you have quite the benefit of choosing one that meets your needs, such in in CA, AZ, OR, CO, UT, from what I can tell on this forum.

One strategy that might work for you is pick a few key "overlanding" products that you want, such as ARB, Fox, etc. Then go to their Web site and search for a dealer near you that carries those products. That's not a bad way to find a company that is doing those types of product installs. It helped me at least find out the three to five folks in my area who have mod shops.

Good luck ! And please check back in and let us know how it goes ...

I'm from the northeast (upstate NY). If you have found any good shops I wouldn't mind a few recommendations. Good Year had a teenage kid who was too Into putting bigger wheels on my truck.

How far upstate ? Most of what I have seen is downstate, if you will. Frankly, your best bet is to find shops that work on Jeeps upstate. There are more of them ... and while not perfect ... it may be okay. Let me know where you are and I may be able to help point you to a few.

    :)

Go on Yelp or Google Maps and search for 4x4 truck shops, their used to adding mods to trucks and jeeps. Regular mechanic shops are more used to dealing with regular vehicles.

Although, I will say, I got my front coilovers, LCA, and UCS installed at a “regular” mechanic for a great price and everything was done correctly. Just tel em what to do and they’ll do it. It’s not too much different than what they’re used to. I did the rear on mine, but a regular mechanic will have an easier time with the rear of a Tacoma than the front so. Honestly any mechanic works so long as they are willing to work on it in the first place.

I would look for a reputable shop that has experience working on 4WD's. I come from the Nissan Titan world and often heard of shops building 5100's wrong and leaving the client screwed when they would not own up to it. Although now is your time to learn and become mechanically inclined :)

Not sure what any of this has to do with the governor, but see if any of these places work for you. I wish I had a great shop that I trust that I could send your way but I just haven't found that place just yet. The one or two places I like are very good but they are too far from you -- and there are a bunch in NJ as well but that is quite a drive.

I can't speak for these shops because I do not have personal experience with them. But these might be worth checking out:

    https://www.automasterscarcare.com

    https://www.adkoffroad.com

    https://www.cdtruckcenter.com

Definitely let me know how it goes ... we should pop over to the Northeast / NY forum and post there too in case any of what you find helps folks in the future.

    Good luck !
