I was leaning towards the AT 7 so this helps a lot. I’ll do a bit more homework but there’s only so much reading I can do about a treadmill. I don’t suspect heavy usage from my wife so I think we should be good with one of these.

I’d rather replace a cheaper treadmill in a few years because my wife and I used it heavily than try to sell a commercial treadmill because it’s now a clothes hanger

At least we will know if it’s really worth it and can replace it with an awesome machine (I can dream of owning a woodway 4front, right?).

I am actually in Idaho now. The road outside our place is a dirt road and STEEP. We walk the road when it’s nicer out but in the winter it’s a bit of an ice rink in spots and surprisingly cold (it follows a creek). We live in a forested area down in a hole so some sections of the road won’t see the sun for months. I personally like to work out before work (5-6 am) so it’s dark and realllly cold at that time too.

Weights will probably be ordered in January. I just need to reorganize the garage/basement to get a better idea of what equipment will fit.

    Eh
What makes that TM so special?

I want a TM that declines and you can program trails into it and it automatically raises and lowers to fit the terrain.
    Maybe $2,000-$2,500k

So coin, but not that much.

But it would be a lot considering I really don’t use a treadmill much. Only when injured or dangerous weather. I’m outside rain or shine or snow otherwise. I use my mill primarily for walking.

You are in ID, gotta hit those mountains for some running!

Craigslist can be a huge thing but it depends on:

How willing you are to wait it out..
    How fast can you jump.

Pretty much anything near me when I was looking for one didn't last a day, so I just had to be patient for a bit and soon as I saw one I liked in my area run out the door to the truck.

My college upgraded to woodway treadmills 2 years before I graduated. I used the 4front and the curve a lot. I didn’t know how much they cost at the time but it was by far my favorite treadmill.

The thick tread is a game changer for me. It has a nice solid/grounded feel to it. More similar to running on a road. I didn’t like the curve all that much but I’d be willing to give it another try. It’s not worth 10K though. Not even 5k IMO.

I’m not going to argue that getting outside is better but sometimes you just need to make things as simple as possible. There are places I can run nearby in the winter but it just isn’t convenient to do that daily. I’ll get more miles in a year with a treadmill just out of the convenience of it being in my home, that’s a guarantee. Plus I can walk and work at home. Can’t do that if I have to walk outside.

I just don’t see it happening. I track the local sale pages pretty closely and rarely does a treadmill come up. If one does, it’s from the 90s.

I guess this is relevant to the discussion on here but there is a lot of poverty in this area and folks are not going to spend their extra money on a treadmill. I would have to drive at a minimum 1.5 hours to get to a big enough city that would maybe occasionally have a decent one on the market but realistically it would be a 3 hour drive to get one.

I just wanted a basic one as well, so that part was much easier.

With your situation it might be easier to either try a WTB somewhere (perhaps a fitness forum particularly?) or just plunk down the $ if you need to for a new

I’ve not used the curved treadmills and probably wouldn’t longer than just to test it out.
The ground isn’t curved so I’m not training on it.

I hear you on the treadmill being convenient. I run a lot but my treadmill use is almost all walking. I can do a standing/walking desk for work and when its cold or super hot its easier to just walk inside.

When training for something my daily runs are minimum 1 hour and thats not exactly always fun on the treadmill so I take that outside.

I was surprised that the curve didn’t bother me. It was just hard to find a comfortable pace since it’s self propelled. It probably just takes more time getting used to it to run at a comfortable pace. But again, not worth 3k+ for one of the most basic designs with little to no features/programming.

Yeah I want the fancy training features and the inclines and declines.

I do not know of any elite runner with a curbed treadmill. The only time I saw them mentioned was by lifters and like the Crossfit world.

Grip shirt needs to be small and tight bro. Always size down, usually a size lower than your normal shirt size.

Also you will likely not be allowed to wear that, depending on your comp promoter. They usually only want competitors wearing USS or Strongman Corp shirts depending on the show.

Also why them toes so red?

See what the promoter says. You may be fine, but still, that one is way too big

My grip shirts are large/xl lol you want it to be tight against you. If it's loose it won't help much.

I have a tight one that has grip spots on the inside and outside. I actually wear that one underneath my comp grip shirt and it works great.

I don’t know I think I’d try a simple “Shoo!” first before I’d “swiftly turn around”. Then just be prepared to run like hell?

Or maybe just pack the .45 just in case?

In Canada there is no packing the .45 we must either run or stand and fight. Like men.

Most times a moose will avoid you unless the rut is on or you get between momma and baby.
