Anyhow these are Toyotas rules ....not mine 2005-2007 , 2008 through 2011 ,and then 2012 -2015 .
Without getting too technical , I have never went against the date rules when installing a second hand transmission as I have always repaired the transmission that came out of the original truck
With the above dates being mentioned , there is only 1 member who went against this date rule and to this day , I do not beleive he has had any issues .I did try to stop him mind you .

As far as what Toyota actually changed between the years ??????
We are still trying to determine what was changed but I beleive the changes were all in the programming as well as the flex lock up cycle . Perhaps there are different materials used in the torque converter clutch in an effort to save more fuel . If there were any internal transmission changes , Toyota didnt make it very evident . The internal mechanics all look the same , all years will bolt up fine .

P.S No damage was done to the Holiday Inn

 

Can confirm, there's virtually zero tuning changes between any of the years with trans tuning N/A-N/A and S/C-S/C. There are some minor differences between N/A and S/C calibrations but its basically just line pressure changes.

 

So if the t4r still has the 2005 original trans or if it got replaced with the 2007 Tacoma motor as a package

I should be fine to pick it up as a road side repair kit

How would one tell the difference in motors single or double Vvt-I ????????


And I am assuming there is a tag on the trans with a date code or # stamped somewhere?

 

The quickest way to tell physically is to look at the top of the engine. If you see the spin on filter it's a single VVT-i. If you don't see it, it's a dual VVT-i....as the filter is a cartridge type in bottom of the block.

Good luck with date codes for the A750E series transmission .The numbers on the external transmission castings wont help you . In order to identify the year the transmission was installed , you have to look at valve body castings . Thats probably the best way to determine the year of the transmission .
These transmissions dont have the Eprom like newer GM products so you can tell how many miles are on them when you purchase them second hand .
