Yes! If you want factory cruise. They may make after market cruise set ups.

What does this truck need to get factory cruise control if it isn’t prewired?

You would need the factory dash harness at minimum that has the cruise wires and connections, maybe even an ecu if yours is not set up to have cruise. If it’s not prewired there is nothing for you to plug the parts into and carry any signal to the ecu to control the cruise control. You’re going down a rabbit hole it’s not worth imo. Maybe some people of the electrical gurus will chime in.

Why would it have that little light on the instrument cluster if it wasn’t prewired?

To save money and make the same dash for all models. Just some that have the feature wire them and others don't. Lots of manufacturers do this.

Did the light come on or your can seat where it say cruise? Many of the cluster faces have all the little wording. In many cases it’s easier to make a universal face vs one for each set up.

Means nothing. The faces are universal for mass production and savings cost.

What’s the likelihood of my truck having it?

More on the less side. Let’s put it this way. If it’s not prewired it will cost you more than the trucks worth to make it like it would have come from the factory.

    Truck’s worth about $8,500...

I highly doubt it would cost over eight grand to install cruise control if it isn’t prewired.

If you need a dash harness .oem is about 3k, if need the ecu oem another 2k, may need a throttle body too, may need the engine harness 2-3k of course these are new parts. I’d never buy a harness that’s been sitting in a junkyard or ecu. You said you only do oem. Now if you want an after market set up probably could do it for a grand.

Oh wait you’d still have to remove the entire dash to install the harness , and if need the engine harness there’s another 1k labor if you can’t do it your self. Seeing the rabbit hole yet

I’ve seen a few they don’t look bad if the person installing takes their time to make it look good. Definitely much cheaper.

its the same cluster. do the paperclip in the bottom two holes of the plug like i said above to see if its prewired. or have your mechanic friend do it. itll take 5 minutes at most to do it.

and this following post is what you do. since you have everything else, i would contact the seller and see if you can purchase just the wiring from him. in the event you arent prewired, all you need to do is run a ground wire, and run one from the steering wheel to the ecu
