Nice! Thank you. Seems like a good price for the hood. But painting it is going to cost another $500 or so

I might be a unicorn on this board, but I went from a non-scoop hood on my 20 OR to a factory scooped hood (I paid $705 otd incl. tax through Toyota). I then had it wrapped with matte black vinyl to match my diamondback cover. Looked awesome and I was rocking it for a couple months. Then I went out to Landers CA for some offroading with a buddy. I had my wife and her friend in the truck (lifted 3") with me. We found ourselves going up and around a steep mountain, roughly at a 45 degree angle. Very narrow path and drop off into nothingness on one side the whole way up. I could not see the trail in front of me at all, and the scoop definitely got in the way (although would have been bad with regular hood as well to be honest). My ass was pucker factor five the entire time and I was worried about killing all of us going off the side. That next week I removed the scooped hood and put back on the old one. Painful b/c I loved the way it looked, but decided safety and better view trumped the looks. Ended up selling the scooped hood on CL within a few days.

Totally understandable. I heard similar stories regarding the hood being an “obstruction” when off-roading.

    ^ This

The front pointed camera helps a LOT with this... but the Taco's hood is HUGE, and it goes on forever! :sadviolin:
Taking the angles that these trucks can work with, I think that this 'blindness' is inevitable - it is often simply not a viable line of sight!

    - It has taken me a while to adjust as for many years all my vehicles were such that the hood was not even visible from the driver's seat... (but I am fine with the need for adjustment as I know this is not a sports car...)

On a different note - I was not into the vinyl on the hood initially, however the satin black does wonders to reduce the glare from the sun from that massive expanse of hoodness in the front. I highly recommend this addition...

Going to look into this for sure. Frankly its terrifying when you can't see where you are going and one wrong turn is certain death.

Got quoted $746 out the door from the dealership this morning for all the parts listed.

The parts guy did discount as much as he can. So good or bad?

If you have a friend who owns a body shop, they usually get 20%-30% off the retail when ordering parts from dealers. Just another avenue to explore ;)

Around $750 including install. Seattle/Bellevue area, so it's kind of high. Could have gotten it cheaper but didn't want to skimp on paint since my truck is a 2020.

As I mentioned above, paid $706 out the door for my hood and that it is in SoCal. Got a quote from bodyshop that dealer uses for $1000 to paint it. Got it wrapped for $300 instead.

Ridiculous I know. So nonchalant when he quoted it straight to my face. I won't call them out by name, but they are very close to I10 Toyota in Indio.
