i would imagine its not hard. and itll be somewhere behind the dash. i couldnt tell you, as i was already prewired. but a quick google search should provide a youtube video on how to do it.

What’s the likelihood of my truck being prewired?

I’m doing a bunch of separate threads so I don’t lose track of important info; I plan to have them merged into my
MegaThread once the project is done (if it gets done); Did you manage to install cruise control in either of your RCs?

stick a paperclip in both of those bottom holes and find out. that is the only way you are going to know.

ive read many things saying 09+ wasnt, 5 lugs arent, reg cab 4x4s arent, etc.

so i have no way of telling you what the possibility is.

I’ve seen 2009-newer 2.7L 5-lug AC SR5s with cruise control; Also, is it safe to reconnect the battery after the airbag has been removed for purposes of testing the connection?

AC are different. a lot of what ive ready said RC dont come prewired. but ive seen a few people saying they do. its all pretty much based on if the convenience package was installed in the truck.

    and thatll be perfectly fine.

My friend and neighbor who helped install my stereo and backup camera a few years ago said I should check the fuse box to see if it has one cruise control; I pulled the cover, and unless it’s coded, there’s nothing there for it...

i dont believe there is anything in the fuse boxes for cruise control. my ranger that uses a throttle cable still, yeah, but where the taco is drive by wire, its all controlled with the computer and a wire run to a switch.

And someone on here (possibly you) told me that because my truck is drive by wire, the cruise control should just plug right in; My mechanic probably isn’t charging me anything to remove the airbag (I don’t have the right tool and don’t feel comfortable messing with the airbag), so there’s nothing much to lose...

It's just so confusing for everyone else, with so many threads.

And no....I didn't even attempt it. Wasn't worth the trouble. Frankly, you may be opening a can of worms on this one. Personally, I would let it go.

If that cruise indicator doesn’t light up when we pull the airbag this Friday, that’s exactly what I’m gonna do...

if your backup cam installing neighbor is still living near you, ask them to help. if youre on good terms with your mechanic, i dont see why they would charge you a whole hours worth of labor, possible half that. but it will literally take 5 minutes to check to see if your truck is prewired or not. after you get that information you can install from there.

Neighbor doesn’t want to mess with it; He’s been doing car audio since he got his driver’s license (over 20 years), but doesn’t like messing with more complex stuff...

id say unbolting an airbag and sticking a paperclip into two pins is a lot less complicated then setting up car audio

Stereo systems won’t deploy at ridiculous speeds and potentially injure you; Besides, she’s going in for a tire rotation anyway...
