I thought it was 06. My 04 didn’t have it. That is just programming anyway, blower is a blower. Just change the mapping with Haltec. I thought VVTI was deleted on TRD mapping with 1GR why would it matter on a UZ?

Just poking at you guys. I know y’all got your hands full. Great rides. I just finished my Detroit diesel swapped FZJ80. The GX and LX platforms are pretty awesome. The one thing that amazed me was how their frames stood the test the time versus Toyota. Not sure what they used or how they did it, but Lexus got it right.

I don't know if the GX was different, but the 2UZ-FE's that shipped in 1st Generation Tundra's got VVTI starting in 05, not 04 or 06. Wikipedia might be wrong, but it says 04 for the GX.

Perhaps the elite SPORT unicorn model, but my base mode 04 GX 470 was non-VVTI, not saying wiki is never wrong but it could have been an option in some higher level trim.

There is no "group buy" per se. If you want to get one installed, let me know. I'll make sure you get that price.

Not the case. It was a 2005 thing. Same for the 4runner.

It does say calendar year, not model year. So a GX built in late 2004 would be a 2005 model. And yes 2005-2009 GXs got VVTi.

It would have been nice if they had made that VVTI indication somewhere on the engine or within the engine bay area.

ahhhh shit I had no idea they slapped that on the engine cover when they rolled it out. Nice! Well that's cool then. Be interesting to see some of those earlier VVTI model GXs and when they were built. See how far back they actually go.

That's a good question. I'm sure there are oct, nov, dec 2004 builds. Sold as the 2005 model.

I like them on my Tacoma but I’ll go with either Apache or Dobinsons next. The red doesn’t look great with shiny blue stuffs
