Especially if you replaced the OEM plastic bed rail caps with much slimmer metal ones...

Thanks helpful but what I also I need is the edge as well. Mainly mocking up a design to modify the Prinsu without just hacking it off. there is bed length but also good idea if exactly since the X1 dies not sit on the rear window as well. This helps give me an idea but ideally need some close to real install. Worst case I was going to do it onsite but if I can get a sense ahead even better.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that at least 3rd gens don't need to get a slimmer cover, that the shark fin will clear.

The bed is taller on the 3rd gens so there is more room, but if you have replaced the plastic bed rails with thinner metal, you should double check you will have clearance. Also, clearance while parked is different than when off road and things are flexing...

Oh, I see what you're saying. I obviously didn't read too carefully and catch the bit about aftermarket bed rails. That makes a lot more sense.

If you can do a MS Paint or something on what dim you need I can maybe help.

I think this is true, also the rear of the roof slope back towards the bed, so it should fit. The tallest point on both trucks is not at the rearmost point of the cab. Not sure about 2nd gen antenna exactly though - my 2006 doesn't have it.

exactly right. maybe why there was a recommendation to not replace the bed rails on 2nd gen.

Good news on the Tundra front.....maybe. I was able to track down J Myers, a Portland photog and Tundra owner who has been a pretty regular presence in the SP shop. He has taken many of the pics on SP's Instagram page and is the first Tundra customer. He's not real big on social media that I've found but he is on Instagram. Anyway, he said Spencer should be calling him 'any minute' to get the measurements for the Tundra top. This was yesterday.

In other news, I have now finished my 64 page homework assignment here only to find that you guys have already added 3 more pages. Sheesh, must be winter.

It can’t be that close. On IG in a couple of the video Style Posts you can get an idea of the 3rd gen antenna gap... it’s at least 3-4 inches from what I’m seeing. Someone on here can get us that measurement for sure.

yah it looks really high in photos so I figured there is 1-2" of space. Hoping at least. trying to come up with a mod for my prinsu that uses 4 mounting feet instead of the 2 forward ones.

When I was at the shop in Sept it was 1.5” above the shark fin on the 3rd Gen. It may be really close on the 2nd Gen.

So in summary, we're not sure if the X-1 will clear the sharkfin that is on the later 2nd gens - especially if the plastic bed rail caps have been replaced with much thinner metal ones from KB Voodoo (or custom @Coop68 ones).

Since there doesn't seem to be a FAQ yet, I wanted to warn y'all with this topic before you get there and have issues. I knew about it before I swapped my Drifter onto the 2.5 gen.
