Wish we could put a bubble over the cities. Let the snow dump - in the woods, in the burbs, but keep it out of the cities, (my driveway) & off the highways.

    Morning everyone!

I was assuming the hinge had broken. My guess would be where the rivots attach the two pieces of the hinge. I’ll have to message him back for more pictures. Thanks for the heads up

    Morning Ct and beyond,

The siblings and I are looking towards one of those battery chainsaws for our dad for xmas. Any recommendations? I believe I remember @Bridge4 and @vssman mentioned they have a sthil battery saw. Any specific models you would recommend? Pretty big price range amongst them from what I am seeing.

I have the 200, my older brother has the 220.

The 200 can do small to "medium" trees. I would say anything maybe a foot or less thick, but it really shines in the 2-6 range. The 220 can do the bigger stuff and I think comes with a "real" bar that is bigger than the 14" on the 200. My brother has cut up some big trees with it, but it eats the battery alot faster as well.

For batteries, I'd get their best one, the AP300s. You need a charger as well.... It can add up quickly! I'd suggest two batteries as well because that way you can always keep cutting.

I can use my saw to cut and then cut up, maybe 15-20 3-6 inch trees on a battery, maybe 5 of the 8-12 inch range. Bar oil is filled once in the middle usually.

Today is my last day off until the 23rd.

Co-worker took off from 11/16 until 12/1. Then I took off 12/2 until today. Then he's taking off from tomorrow until 12/22. Then I'm off from 12/23 until after the New Year.

What a shit show it was the two + weeks that he was off. I'm sure it was a shit show as well while I was just off. Just like I'm sure it will be a shit show again when I'm back and he's off, and then the opposite again. This thing of only having the two of us on our "team" and only one of us being able to be out at a time and the other having to do the job of two people is bullshit. I was literally averaging just a tad over 300 inbound emails a day when he was off. Which means that for just about every email that I received, I had to send two replies.

I fucking hate it. Been looking for something else for a while again, but nothing has really caught my eye yet. Plus with the kiddo having to be on distance learning, again, now until mid January kinda puts a cramp in changing jobs because it'd be impossible because of having to be home to help him with school. This is such a shitty situation. Needs to go back to normal ASAP.

Not to mention that a few weeks ago, I got a "talking to" from my boss because the "west coast" doesn't feel like that I go above and beyond to help them.

Not the first time that we've had this conversation, coming from the same people. Like... WTF!

I guess logging in early everyday, answering emails as soon as they come in and don't let them sit around unanswered, answering emails after hours, giving people the answers & information that they ask for and even giving them MORE information than being/I'm being asked, is not considered going "above and beyond". I guess they want me to do their job for them as well, to get that above and beyond credit. Fuck that!

I've been there my man & know exactly what you're enduring. All you can do is your best. Easier said than done but you can't let them drag you down. The stress you're going through is literally a killer. It's really, really hard but you have to resolve that you're not going to give them the power over you. I know it sounds trite but it's the only way outside of going postal.

Agreed. I told my boss that I had no comment and nothing to talk about when we spoke. I just kept going about my business, and made a few minor changes... Like not answering emails early and late like I had been. Trying to prove my point through my work. And trying to separate work life from home life since I've been working from home since March. Don't want my work stress and anger to spill over into my home life.

Maybe the West coast people could get more work done if they didn't go surfing, or skiing , etc. but in reality they are a few hours behind us and the work hours don't line up to eastern time, so they get pissed that your going home and their still working. Just sayin!

Call them starting a 8:00am eastern time , leave them messages . voice . email etc . them you complain they are not responding to your request.

Complaing works both ways, and you've have been down this road before.

Remember this, "Everyone needs a dog to kick! Choose not to be the dog!"

Does he already have Stihl batteries?

I'm a battery guy on all my non-outdoor power tools and love it. But I still think gas rules for chainsaws, leaf blowers and lawnmowers. I tried the battery leaf blower and even with rotating 2 60v batteries on a fast charger it couldn't keep up with my small/medium yard.

A cheap husky 440 saw will last years and be very capable. If he's already got a couple of Stihl batteries than I'd say it's ok to not go gas but the batteries are pricey and run out of juice quick on tools like this.

Also, hi CT! Happy to be back in a Tacoma

Yup..don't give em anything extra when you're not getting paid if that is how it's going to be. Similar approach I've taken of not being the guy everyone asks for help, since I've been denied several times for a promotion..let the assholes who get pushed ahead do it

Is the whole company run the same way - or is it just your department being so severely misunderstood?
I ask because maybe you want to move to another job in the same company. You've got some nice (VACATION!) bene's.

I like my gas saws; they have served me very well. All of his gas saws ended up with me because hes not the best with running the tank dry before putting it away. Carbs get clogged, he gets frustrated and gives it to me. Hes always welcome to use them but I still think he would like his own, and the benefits of just needing a charged battery and some bar lube.

Its funny. My brother suggested a br700 blower. I didnt think my dad would really use it, especially with me right down the road with my blower. I suggested this and my brother is now balking at the cost, even though pretty even with the blower...

Also, got around to draining the fluid out of the plow for some fresh stuff. Noticed one of the hydraulic hoses was starting to crack or dry rot. Quickly got a replacement at napa and swapped that out, filled the reservoir, cycled the cylinders to get any air out and topped the reservoir off again. Happy to be prepared if/when we get hit by that white stuff.
