I say let him pay the CA tax man, sooner they bleed Tesla (a company still not turning a profit) dry, sooner the real brands can pay for licensing the tech instead of wasting time/resources building more proprietary infrastructure for the "Apple" of e-cars.

Article here, BBC, says they are going to build a new factory in Texas. Musk sounds like he is done with the bullshit in CA finally.

Didn't realize it was that close to you. That makes it a lot easier for sure.

Tesla has posted a profit for 5 straight quarters and is one of the most valuable companies in the world. Your argument is about 2 years too old.

I'm still hoping it dies off, I admittedly don't keep up.

Haha I can tell. I worked there for 4 years and have stayed in the ev industry (now at Rivian) so I definitely am a proponent of our glorious EV future. More gas for me.

I'm all for EV motors. Instant torque is great for offroad. I have no qualms with EV or some fake grudge with Tesla. The man is a genius.

More gas for me too haha, as long as they don't slow down on refining I don't care what the ev market does. Someone that actually works at Rivian though, y'all must be rare as hens teeth. Does their truck idea (not the licensed features to Ford) actually have a chance at making it to the public in any sort of numbers?

I wondered about the Rivian avatar. I finally watched Long Way Up on Apple TV and was very impressed with the Rivian and the trucks performance. The company really put itself out on a limb in supporting those guys and putting what were basically pre-production vehicles through some major paces out there. The Harley e-bikes were also impressive, they also really stepped up the game in supporting the show.

Except for the price and charge times (which have definitely gotten better), I would totally go for either the Rivian R1T or R1S. The both look great, even though I'm not a fan of the headlight shapes.

Yeah they nailed that install. :/ Weird they designed this building with no rooms to use as MDFs or IDFs.

Yeah, man. It's legit. Our prototypes are out racking up miles now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmdsKHTRViA&ab_channel=Rivian

I haven't watched it yet but need to. You can also watch one of our prototypes in the Rebelle Rally.

I can't wait till I get a chance to drive one. The thing has 4 motors and each one has about as much power as a 5vzfe.

I'll have to watch that later (work). I also saw that Rivian has plans to place charging stations in offroad areas to help feed the overlanding and offroading community and maybe get some people into the trucks. If they can make the trucks charge capable with solor panels and small inverter type generators (maybe have one onboard the truck somewhere), that might be a huge factor in getting more people on-board with going EV.

I'm not against EV at all, I dig the concept. But knowing the kind of offroading I do, I'd want/need to be able to put larger tires on it with more ground clearance and be able to charge the truck without a power station in remote areas. Gas vehicle, I can carry spare gas. Can't carry spare battery packs for an EV, at least not yet.

I don't know if I'd want to see charging stations at trails...at least not the more remote ones. Popular OHV parks wouldn't be a big deal, I'm guessing that's what they are thinking about anyway

You don’t want a charging station at the bridges parking lot?
