Need a little help from you lifted guys. I installed a 2" front and rear lift. I have started noticing a vibration between 20 and 25 mph. I measured my angle from the carrier bearing to the rear pinion and came up with about 2 1/2 degrees difference. Is that enough to cause this vibration that I'm feeling? I also put the truck in 4WD and I didn't notice it, but it still might have been there. Just not as noticeable. What should I do next?IMG_2605.jpg

might be needle bearing? Saying because you don't notice it in 4wd. A good amount of us replace it with ECGS.

I did a test. Drove the truck at 20 to 25 mph and then switched it to 4WD, hard to tell if anything changed. This is a 2020 with 5000 miles and the lift has been on for 4000 of those. I first thought it was the new AT tires, but I have had them rebalanced twice. No change in the low level vibration.

Ya sorry Toyota put a damn needle bearing on the driver side. Buy the ecgs clamshell bushing and get it in there. When you lift the taco its going to throw off that needle bearing, so most people on this forum say thats the first thing you should do. I personally dont live far from raleigh so I just had EAst coast gear supply do both of my tacomas. Never had a vibe since

So did you install new a leaf pack as well?

Also did you install a shim with the leaf pack? I have a 3 degree shim on mine and never had an issue.

No I did not add shim's. I did another test tonight that I read about. I placed heavy objects in the bed (maybe 200 lbs.) and drove around. The vibration disappeared. So from that, I assume my issue is pinion angle and not needle bearing. I'm off by 2 1/2 degrees in the rear if I measured right so I think I should try adding the shims first and see if that resolves the problem.

I think its the needle bearing too. You added weight to the rear which changed the angles to the rear as well as the front. Also it may have relieved some stress off the needle bearing. I would try a front diff drop and a rear carrier bearing drop first. They are simple to install and very inexpensive too. Do the front first and see if that fixed it and then the rear next. Play around with it, maybe do the back first. Its cheaper and less invasive than the ecgs bushing. I did the ecgs bushing and front drop and rear carrier drop. No vibs what so ever and 15k miles on it. Now I did mine when the lift was installed, everything as preventive measures. Sometimes the vibs will be front end related when all the signs are making you think the problem is the rear.

Glad I cam across this thread. I have what feels like a driveline vibration that happens between 65-70MPH. Initially I thought I had a tire issue but after swapping tires, rebalancing etc. I think this is likely the issue. It is not a fatal flaw but definitely annoying.

Got my shims from wheelers when I bought my lift originally. I'm at 103K now and have yet to replace the needle bearing, but its on my list of to do's.

If the vibration went away with weight in the bed, it is definitely driveline angle related. There is loads of info here about what your angles should be and how to correct it. Good news is you don’t have to worry about it too much. Seems like half of Tacoma’s have this issue right off the lot.

So the shop diagnosed the rear pinion angle to be off due to the lift. They added 2.5 degree shims under the leaf springs and the vibration has gone away. So glad that is all it was.

Is there a diff drop kit that includes hardware for the TRD skid plate? I'm installing a 2.5 front kit and aftermarket UCA's with 2" AAL in rear and 2 degree shims in rear. I am wondering if i should do the carrier bearing too.? Thoughts? BTW, I have the 20 TRD OR DC LB.
