I can't imagine anyone would care too much about the color of the plastic in the connector? But are we talking about $4 vs $1 or $40 vs $10? The former is inconsequential while the later is significant. I'm guessing somewhere in between those two but could you give some sort of estimate on the net total cost of the male + female OEM connectors - cheapo connectors?

Out of curiosity, any specific reason for choosing spades over bullets?

I look at this and I see a sea of red connectors mixed with the green switch T's making it very Christmas-y :) Which may have been the timeline all along? :)

*Roughly* looking at the difference between $15 and $35 (plus shipping). I should have said the cost of the connector wsa 4x.

More commonly available at any hardware store, although I don't like these faston connectors and will be asking for open barrel crimps with insulating boots. I have nothing against bullet connectors, they just aren't as common in the US. You can go just about anywhere and find 0.25" and 0.187" spade terminals.

Unfortunately yes. By the time I get people's orders and place the order on my end that is probably accurate. These are fairly simple harnesses though, so it may be more like early Dec.

Before I forget, thank you for doing all this work!

I'd throw the extra $20 your way without even thinking about it. These are one-and-done type purchases.

No progress to report. Sorry. I have a plan and a schematic, but that is as far as I have gone.

I am working on getting my office set up with some prototyping equipment so I have a dedicated space to work on my projects. My current space is the spare 3rd bedroom of our house that is slated to be our nursery in T-6 months. I have been spending most of my free time (outside developing my own LLC since my employer has basically dissolved) working on fininshing my basement so I have a dedicated workshop for my projects.

Once I am set up and all my crap is moved downstairs I will have much more availibility to work on things.

Congrats on the Baby. Very exciting

By the way 2Lo is still my favorite and most useful mod. Use it every day

Hey... anyone been driving around full time with the 2Lo toggle on but in 4Hi? It would make flipping to 2Lo a quicker process, but I don't know if I loose traction control or anything. Not that its a big problem, it was just a thought.

@kmorgan3 scrounged up connectors and pins for my manual climate control hazard connector to T off switch illumination in the center console. I crimped on a 2 pin JST connector since Y’s are easy to build or source. Then, thanks to the prototype from @lapoltba I injected dimmed illumination into the 2 low switch and have a tap for other switches in the LSP.

@kmorgan3 might be able to do onesy twosy stuff for others if you ask?

The green male JAE connectors seem to be the challenge for me. I’m putting together an order of stuff and they are $3.65 each from hi-1000 which is not super sweet since they aren’t even a OEM part.

So at $30-$40 for the T and then $10 for each switch injector, it does add up. I’m sure @lapoltba has much better plans for cost control with his sources and making someone else crimp in bulk is always better than spending time crimping yourself so I'm confident he will produce something far better in price and value than anything I can throw together.

I know it's a very small change but now that my 2Low switch is dimmed vs always-on I'm a little bit happier.

Congrats on the new addition, @lapoltba. May your journey be every bit as ridiculous as mine.

Glad it worked! That was definitely a one-off.

The JAEs (IL-AG5) are actually really easy to find. Probably dont need to go through japan (shipping $$). I just don’t buy the plugs or housings as it’s easier for me to de-pin the ones you get from CH4x4 and build jumpers.

Jumpers made by de pinning and double crimping (not as reversible as the adapter you have... but cheaper):

Any update on these? I know it’s a small thing, but the light being different right in front of the shifter does annoy me. Still one of my favorite mods though. If @daveeasa or anyone else who has made one of these wants to build a harness for me I would pay you for it.
    Thanks.

Development has stopped and I am not pursuing this any further. I believe someone already has something similar, but I don't remember who. It doesn't make sense to have two competing products that are so similar and have a limited demand.
