Your speaker's low end response will sound better if you cover up those big holes. I would put a double layer there or a piece of 1/8" ABS plastic covered in sound deadening to block those. Think of it being like a speaker cabinet. It will also seal out more road noise. Just my 2 cents after installing car stereo for 20 years....

Got @PapaRee to install a tweaked version of the M+W tune on my truck today. I don’t have a lot of miles on it yet but it feels real good so far. I expect it will only get better over time. Thanks Kreg!

Follow up for the three of y'all watching this mod project. The Amazon 3-wire sockets don't fit the Tacoma headlight fixture (different nib configuration) will either modify or find alternate socket and post whatever works when I find it.

He did mine a couple months ago, I love the way my truck drives now. Best mod to my truck so far, @PapaRee is very knowledgeable tuning these trucks.

Big Bend Ranch State Park is one place that I go to fairly frequently. It is quite remote, there is no phone access, and the trails are also not patrolled regularly. In many areas you will not see another vehicle for the entire weekend, and the weather can be quite extreme, especially in the summer months. It does require a permit to access this area, and along with your regular recovery gear, they require 2 spares and C Load tires at the minimum. Although not required, I also carry a PLB for emergencies, something I started doing after having a mtn bike crash a few years ago. Fortunately at that time I was not critical, and in an area that was accessible fairly closely by truck. My grandson was able to ride back and get the truck and haul me out. As I have done a lot of remote area backpacking, I appreciate the permitting requirement, and also leave an itinerary should the unexpected happen. When I was young we used to go out on Crown lands on the east slopes of the Rockies in Alberta, hiking and motorbike packing, and disappear for days without letting people know where we were, and often weren't even too sure where we were going until we hit the trail. It was fun to explore, and only years later did I realize how foolhardy it was, but we were lucky. My mother probably went gray much earlier than she should have because of us, lol!

Toy Crawlers. Jacob is the owner and an awesome person to work with. I live up on the north west side of the burbs and they are 10 minutes away which also helps. I highly recommend them.
