How long do you use your bed plug for?

How long have you been able to use your 400 watt AC plug in your bed either with engine off?

I just got a queen size air mattress that takes about 4 min to inflate. Can I get away with inflating that when I go camping with the engine off?

Yes, you can easily pump up an air mattress, I have aired up my tires with a 12v pump and also ran a 12v refrigerator for 4 or 5 hours without any issues. The inverter is not as efficient when converting to 120v ac, but not any issues with what your use at present is.

Thanks, that's useful info. I'm also considering getting a small air compressor for airing up after going on the beach. You'd recommend getting a 12V DC compressor over a traditional 120V one that I could use at home in the garage also, or would it not matter much for the few minutes I'd be using it to send all 4 tires from 15 psi up to 30 psi?

Could another alternative if I go with a 120V AC compressor so I don't have to buy two of them (120V one for home and 12V for truck) to just keep the engine running when using the inverter in the bed?

I don’t think you’ll be able to find a garage-type compressor which the Inverter in our trucks can power. 400 Watts is not very much and most A/C Motors require more than that just to get started. The smallest plug-in Compressor I own is a 2 Gallon HF unit and the rated Amp-draw is more than 400 Watts.

You have 400w to work with which is just over 3 amps; that's not a lot to work with. I doubt you'll be able to find an AC pump that sucks up less than that steady current.
