By the time Dune finally comes out we’ll all have been vaccinated.

And COVID-21 will be coming out because some dude ate a chinchilla. Shit.

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
So so true. Looking at the cast interviews and listening to the actor playing paul, I agree with the director's comments. He looks young, but speaks old. I'm curious to see how his acting changes pre/post spice.

Dune was the original game of thrones, but in sci fi. I'm sure you'll love it from start to unfinished finish :).

It'll be interesting to see how they portray the spice melange...and the mentats. :) Jason Momoa was a great pick, especially if they plan on doing the rest of the books. His character takes center stage after book 3. Or maybe even at the end of book 3. I don't remember.

If you don't like dune, may your tacoma frame chip and shatter. :)

Almost done with the book (about 70 pages left of the 800 pages of reading). So the book is split into three "books". Books one and two were great, everything explained in detail and the timeline flow was good. Is it just me or is book three feeling rushed? Since i'm almost done I feel like so much was covered in book three and they just skip things assuming you kind of know what happened in between. **spoilers** like when Paul drinks the drop of the Water of Life... I recall him just being in the room contemplating drowning the small worm and then like the next chapter that talks about this he is in a coma for 3 weeks. The first two books I feel didn't have this style of writing. Anyways, my $.02. I can't wait to see how the book details out how the end comes for the Harkonnens. The movie rushed that more than I would have liked.

In between reading I did end up watching the original Dune movie and that was all over the place, ha ha.

it's good but not great sci-fi. Worldbuilding is epic, honestly a bit too much. it does feel like you miss some of the background stuff at the end, you're right

Finished the book last night. Damn, not impressed with the ending! Nothing like reading an 800 page book to be not let down, but unimpressed. **Spoilers** So he fought Feyd and defeated him. Cool. That guy was mentioned only a handful of times throughout the entire book. They didn't even really go into detail about killing the Baron Harkonnen… I was hoping that would have been a huge part of the book! A quick sentence from Alia "I have taken care of the Baron"... what?! That's it? This guy wreaked havoc on your family and that's all you give him? Ugh. Glad it's over.

Geez, nothing like pissing in someone’s Cherrios.

Not great scifi? It’s only ranked at the top for 50 years.

That's subjective at best, and I was just being a foil for the fanboys in the thread. I'll still watch it most likely, I watched the other two multiple times, and read it multiple times too. I'm a sci-fi junkie

I keep forgetting, facts are now subjective.

Just Google top scifi books of all time and you’ll see, if you want to, the fact Dune is at the top of many if not all.

the "fact" it's on a list means someone subjectively rated it. And the "fact" you bring in Google at all is laughable

if you want to say it is one of the top 50 SOLD SF books, that is something that can be a fact.

If you didn’t like the book, you don’t have to participate in this thread.

There’s no need to crap on everyone who feels differently.

But if things get nasty I’ll ask to have people removed. Not playing 3rd Gen forum games in here.

who's crapping on anyone? I was responding to another poster who mentioned he was unimpressed with the ending. Another poster disagreed. It's still on the topic YOU chose even if it's a disagreement between posters.

I didn’t name anyone, I stated conditions. You read into it what you wanted to, which leads me to believe you already know your position.

I will never forget the first time I read the novel after watching the movie a 1000 time! I couldn't get over how normal the novel was... Looking forward to this movie!!!

you said "If you didn't like the book" etc. Only two people have said anything remotely derogatory against the book (and it sure as hell wasn't much), myself and gkomo. So you tell me who you're talking about then?

This is a discussion and you felt you needed to threaten people with being "removed" who disagreed with certain opinions. That's mature.

Damn, looks like I started a little frenzy here.

Just stating my opinion that I was unimpressed with the ending of an 800 page book of which this thread is based upon. Not sure why that's an issue.

I actually liked books 1 and 2 and as said before I felt book three was rushed/the time flow was off compared to the other two. I will 100% watch the upcoming movie as I am a sci-fi junkie myself (as it looks like we all are). The 1984 movie version didn't follow the book 100% hopefully the new movie doesn't either. With cinematography today they could go wild with the world built by Herbert.

That's actually exactly how I stumbled upon this book. I Googled "best scifi books" and this popped up. It is also my opinion that the ending could have been better. Strider is also just stating his/her opinion.

    Are opinions no longer welcome?
