I just bought 20, all in 10mm.

 

give it 5 years, you’ll need to buy more.

 

I’m a Makita guy. But swapping my steering rack made me realize I need this. Need.



I believe I will soon be jumping into the Milwaukee 12v stuff

 

Which part of the install made you want that? I've done it three times now and can't think of a specific time where that'd be handy.

If I had to guess, getting the steering shaft undone from the rack? I used an extension and impact swivel. (which btw rest of the thread reading this, these impact swivels are the tits)

 

I used the impact swivels to remove the rear bumper and hitch assembly to replace the rusted one. I agree also the swivels are the tits...

 

Oh come on guys... can’t you see I’m just using this as an excuse to buy a new tool?

It could be helpful separating the intermediate shaft from the rack, and the brackets holding the lines to the rack and frame. Who cares? The whole swap could be done with a crescent wrench, 3 sockets, a hammer, and a pry bar. But that’s no fun is it?

New tools are fun.

Bought the truck with a bad rack so swapped in an A1 Cardone. Blew the seals in that rack so swapped in a new warranty one. Blew the seals in that one, they said "Here's a full refund and fuck off." so I swapped in an OEM one.

 

Yeah I read some of your issues in the steering rack replacement page. That’s why I went oem as well, from some online Toyota parts place.Glad mine went smoothly. Minimal rust issue, and your flipping the rack 180 to take out and put back in makes it so fast. Also figured out just the right swivel, lift, twist to get the drivers bolt out pretty easy. Plus I remembered to tie down the steering wheel, so that helped.

 

Nice!! Been look'n to pick one up myself, but in 3/8. Curious as to what size Battery (AH) you'll use the most. Ideally, I'd like it to be my go to impact, with just one batter size. (4ah maybe?)

Just jumped a dude in the grocery store parking lot with my Noco. This this is like the best invention. So much faster that jumper cables. A couple jumps per charge, and you can just charge it in the car while you’re driving. You do, of course have to remember to keep it charged.

 

Also to note, if it sits in your cold car overnight, it becomes pretty useless at jump starting anything since cold impacts all batteries pretty much. I learned this the hard way. It’s always good to have cables as a backup.

 

I was bad today...or good?

 

I learned this the hard way on my motorcycle one morning. Li-ion do not like the cold at all. Usually a small draw for a few minutes will warm them back up internally and they're good to go again, like just turning on the high beam. I'm curious how long the light on the jump packs would take to "warm it up". Or I guess just sit on the thing for a bit and let your ass get it warm haha
