Got a question for y’all. My passenger rear billstein decided to make a mess after almost 30k. Driver side is nice and dry as of now. Replace both with new bills or should I go with some other brand? It’s mainly a work truck/ pavement prowler with an aal. Interested to see the groups opinions.

How much lift do you have in the rear? It’s possible it blew from over extending. If that is the case then that would change recommendation.

Mine did the same thing a couple years ago, just do both at once and be done with it. Should be an easy driveway job.

It’s only a toytec aal so 2in I believe. I bought the billsteins because they came with the aal. Keep in mind I have stock brake lines.

Ah, then nevermind. It may be because the boots were removed and gunk tore up that seal? Unless you removed it for the pic.

I’ve had 5100 before and no issues but I know some people have issues with them. Seems to be a little hit or miss.

I took the boot off 1 month ago.... so if it was that which led the failure then :annoyed:
Should I stick with bills or go ome on the rear shocks with a little bit more length?

If I were in your shoes, I would contact bilstein and see if they’ll warranty it first.

I haven't done a 3rd gen yet. From what I've heard they are a little more difficult. If that's the case, it'd be a little more expensive than doing a 2nd gen, which is around $200 through the shop.

Definitely contact Bilstein. I don't know how they are now, but in the past they've warrantied some questionable failures.

There’s this stupid little cube in the cab mount that I use a 6” disc to get through, but other than that it’s the same thing. Now, if you were to do an aggressive chop like you did for 35s, that it a huge pita on a third gen.

Thanks man doing well. Just been busy training, prepping for deployment and just back from JRTC in LA for 30 days. How are things on the East?
Its great to be home man. Minus this covid bullshit and work getting busy I need to get out more. Wife just got a T4R and about to lift it with a dobinson kit, sliders, roof rack and skids for xmas. Now she can join me on the trails out here. Still debating on my build and where to go next and just spending time getting out and breaking shit to get new stuff haha. How are things back there?

Awesome on the T4R Wifey Package!!! East coast living a la 2020 has been interesting, like most of the world/country it seems. Off topic, it's been a particularly wet year here on the property (albeit nothing like the great rainforest of the PNW!)...unexpectedly ended up having a reappearance of my hand/wrist tenosynovial cyst (nearly a decade later), so 3 weeks ago I had my second surgery went well, but didn't come out like I asked for...granted the Luke Skywalker special...
    20201210_143757.jpg

Baby will be a year old on the 29th?!?!?! How quickly it goes by...am I right @pabstsmeared, @chiefcrunchy, and look out @EatSleepTacos!

She's in love with selecting books, "reading" and flipping pages, and is obsessed with my old (nearly 40 year old copy) book "Let's Go!". I think we read it at least 20 times (and of course she throws it across the room each time ) an evening!20201207_175219.jpg

Lastly and finally she's cutting in teeth, and now walking @ a handful of steps at a time...so I'm happy to be on the mend as 2021 approaches!!

Sending well wishes to you all and a Merry XMas and Happy and Healthy New Year!

Great to hear all is well and congrats on the T4R! Things are relatively quiet out here in the middle of the Pacific, which I suppose is a blessing with all the COVID madness going on in CONUS. Honestly, the island life is much different than when I was here before, and not really in a good way. We are enjoying ourselves but looking forward to getting back to VA as well...kind of a mixed bag.

So you're saying I need to pull a tacomaholic and start planning/scheduling my 2nd #randyfab CMC for 35's that may...or more likely won't be a factor until your wife PCS'!?!?!
