    Even though you're close, just in case we aren't the only ones, how 'bout we meet up at the 15 & 78? Google says there's a McDonalds there (1050 W Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92025).

    @Rakso we meeting at the trailhead @7AM?

    If so, we'll leave Mickey D's @ 6:20 (edited).

    Meeting at trailhead before 8AM. No specific time set. Ideally we'll start at 8AM.

    This sounds like a good time. I have plans that weekend but if they fall through, I’ll be there.

    Washed the truck and I think it looks better dirty!

    @Reef2018
    Edited the departure time for 6:25. Leaves us time for me to get lost and still make it there on time to air down. Might even have a few spare secs to top off on gas nearby.

    @Beer-toe
    Good to watch the video that @Jyruiz posted, but you'll quickly realize you're going to want to buy a programming cable and download/learn to program with chirp (that is if you think you'll program it more than once or twice).

    I go back and forth between my HAM radio setup and my off road setup and Chirp makes it easy to quickly switch back and forth. If you're going to devote this radio to just off road, you may figure it's not worth the trouble.

    Can't you just manually input the frequency on those radios?

    Using CHIRP is absolutely the way to go with these for programming channels you frequent around town, but whenever you end up with a group, you just end up typing in whatever they're using on the spot. On that note, what channel are we using so I can use CHIRP to program it in ahead of time :rofl:

    Yeah, you can type it in manually, but programming in all race radio frequencies, weather channels, gmrs/fmrs, NOAA etc channels gets old QUICK. The cash for the programming cable and time saved NOT dealing with inputting stuff manually is worth it IMO.

    That being said, I'm going to try to remember my computer and programming cable for you @Beer-toe. Either before or after I'll give you a demo and you can make the decision based off that.
