Wasn't sure where Pisgah was, definitely have to hit that up since it's right there.

I may have to swing Knoxville on the way back or way there undecided. It will be probably end of January *snow pending* that I make the trip.
I'm ordering a machine built in Ashville and going to go pick it up myself to avoid freight. It's 6-8 weeks out.

One of my deep regrets was not getting into serious MTB when I worked in NC, Pisgah and Asheville was right in my backyard. Now I'm in Northern Nevada where its either a few singletracks around town or Reno, SLC, and South Idaho areas.

Bruh lol. Literally the trip some of us did in summer. Best riding no doubt is right there.

I went with a 51 offset. Same price as the 44 and both were in stock, but 51 seemed marginally more correct.

TRP G-spec brakes also come in silver... Sorta has me thinking. It'll rock a set of SRAM G2s initially because I got it as part of a screamin package deal.

Haha, I don't keep up with professional MTB at all. I watch a few highlights on YT, but that's it.
I'll need people to give me trails and order numbers I should hit them in.

It's exciting, undecided how I want to do this though. Probably take off on a Thursday head up early that morning, ride Thursday and Friday, drive back Saturday evening.
Completely undecided, may just take off Friday and bump the trip one day to coming back Sunday.

If it’s one day of riding, I’d probably say DuPont or Kanuga with what little experience I have lol. Pisgah is an absolute blast, but super time consuming climbs and exhausting.

I have only had issues with press fit on 2 out of 4 bikes. Mainly just god awful creaking, no catastrophic failures. Glad my current bike is threaded and if I can help it I will stay on this side of the bb fence. Mainly because I like to do most of my own work.

Anyone have preferences on bike grease for assembly?

I've always been a Superlube ptfe grease fan, as thats what I use on my truck, and my pedals already. It'd work on the rest of the bike too, but if anyone had a different recommnedation...

    not enough.
Wasn't there some research a whileb ack about PF vs threaded and found that THEORETICALLY, Pressfit would be a tighter fitting bb? it's just manufacturing that holds it back?

BMX uses 3 types of press fit, Mid and Spanish are direct into the BB, American presses cups into the BB and then the bearings are clearance fit into the cups (sometimes they'll use Mid bearings). And then race uses thread in Euro size. Euro is too small to handle the abuse of BMX, most use Mid, some use Spanish, very few use American (cheap bikes use American, unsealed and 1 pc cranks will typically use American).

I am now finding this interesting that everyone is astounded about a press fit BB. That's been my norm since I was 12  never had any creaking or failures or anything like that. Super simple setup too, such that a hair brained 16 year old and a block of wood and a hammer can get it installed to spec....

Edit: Euro is too small to handle park/DJ/street riding, sorry. You'll see Euro in racing. I'd have to look at flatland again, they might use euro for better clearance but it's been a while since I gave a rip about flatland.

You'll find this sort of banter about BB types, etc usually occurs in the winter months when weather and daylight means there isn't much riding to be had. :D

Phil woods is my preferred, but have used tri flow as well and been plenty pleased. Between those two I’ll use which ever my LBS has in stock.

Looks pretty good with silver stem, hubs, and seat clamp.

Now on to tires. Vittoria anthracite sidewalls? I'm thinking so.
