Very nice gesture. That would be a shame if he cannot at least get back in a car just one more time to help get over the accident. Very nice.

Not an official FIA analysis, but pretty interesting nonetheless. The creator puts the vertical support member as the culprit behind splitting the car in half and puncturing the fuel cell.

 

that vertical support was targeted as the cause of the car split in the Ted Kravitz piece during Sunday's pre-race show too

 

140mph/56g’s against a somewhat solid pole, somethings gonna give. Thankfully it wasn’t the driver cockpit. The engine breaking off at least lessened the kinetic energy for Romain.

I think the only way to make the cars safer would be to contain the fuel cell within the safety structure. Or maybe have multiple fuel cells so if one ruptures in a freak accident like this less fuel is leaked.

 

It didn't help that it was the start of the race and the tank was full.

 

Martin Brundle mentioned during the pre race or pre qualifying that the camera that looks back at the driver from just above the steering wheel remained operational after the crash and the whole time Grosjean was still in the car and that he had seen the footage and that it perfectly corresponded to Grosjean's explanation of events

Very interesting debrief from what the engine issue was that George had & the mix up at the stacked pitstop. George's drive is even more impressive knowing he had issues with his power unit during the race.
