going to drop the 2005 transmission pan and change the fluid, gasket and put back.

where have you ordered the gasket material?
Toyota told me they reuse the filters, I kind of like putting a new one in, makes more sense....right....

any information will help and be appreciated. either way i am taking it down....

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
First, it's not actually a filter, it's a strainer (screen mesh). Second, there is a procedure to follow for the tranny that's in the 4.0l (assuming that's what you have). It may be the same for the 2.7l tranny. Basically, if you don't have a fill tube/dip stick, you need to follow the procedure.

    I have 5 speed auto, v6 prerunner.

yea I have found some filters but toy says they just wash the screen off and reuse. I guess this is the best........

I found the procedure about how to drain and fill....

I am going to drop the pan, inspect the filter, and oil. put new gasket on and reinstall. then fill using the jumper wire tech for the tempt reading.

I tow a 5,000 pound travel trailer and its not just the weight, but the wind drag on the box shape that puts a bit of pressure on the truck...the trany is starting to shimmy, slip or something at take off in any gear. nothing with out the trailer behind it.....I am not sure...

if i can't some how solve it here. and i can't get beefier heavy duty parts for it, she is gone............GMC 3/4 here i come.....
