Which Idle? I've messed with the Cold Start Target maps and set all values to 900rpm. With this, the idle is a bit lower when not moving but seems to be speed controlled. As soon as I start rolling it drops and I don't have to ride my brakes to hold back the Taco.

Exactly - Cold start. My idle is way high at start up and I don't want to put my truck in gear until it slows down. IMO there's no need for such a high idle. (1400 rpm)

You'll still see that RPM unless we get more control, but you can test the action in Neutral. As soon as you move, the revs will drop.

As noted, I have mine set to 900 across the board in both maps, but it will generally rev to about 1,050. Still, no problems with it trying pull along at 15+ getting out of the neighborhood or parking lot.

Tony ....... aren't you an MT ? " I don't have to ride my brakes to hold back the Taco. "

    :crapstorm::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Also are these the proper areas to modify the idle ? I don't get the "Drive" & "Park" reference ....... ?

    Any guidance on this ?

Yessir. But, 1st at 1,400 is 8mph and 2nd almost doubles that to about 15. Neither seemed to work, but 10mph or so is nice. Stock, I saw revs over 1,500 at times.

    :santa2:

This is the extreme beauty of vF. Personalized too a fault. Ever since I started driving, I never liked high idle and enjoy the control that I have on my bikes where I can set it just high enough to keep the motor running.

My wife's Forester is extremely nutty with high idle. We have to be firmly on the brakes when it's pulling hard.

These are 2D maps. So, you can edit the values that you want. I can't remember what the x axis was. Temp maybe?

OK .... I see what you're doing now.
Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm in agreement on the bike idle. It's not like we're
warming up the cats ( what cats? )
I'm just starting to play with the vF software ..... never enuff time !

I’m not sure why you guys are so scared of high idle rpms. It’s a normal thing that all vehicles do especially on a cold start in cold temperatures

    You're welcome.

Yeah. I've monitored temps on the Taco and my bike. The oil and coolant get to temp way faster when moving under light load, so I don't let them idle for more than a few seconds.

It took a while for me to get comfortable with vF and about eight versions of my tune to find the sweet spot. @OVTune said that there are more cool features heading our way on future versions.

    Who said scared?

Just don't like 'em and am happy to have control where possible. If you think high idle is the best thing since sliced bread, then you don't have to mess. The Taco will take care of you.

Normal doesn't mean right. Right? If my motor lumping over enough to make oil pressure, I'm happy.
