I've been running freenas on an R710 for a couple of years now. I love it. It can get some rough edges if its not up to date, but its been rock solid overall. Way easier than when I did a straight FreeBSD setup

It's pretty simple untill you start getting into it's more advanced layers. But that's what's awesome is you can have simple or do something pretty complex.

Yea. I got it running a few VM's through bhyve and that was awfully easy. They've done a great job.

Do any if you guys have experience with the Razer Kraken X headset? If not, what do you recommend for 50 to 70 bucks? I tried the hyperx cloud 2, but they had like no bass at all.

Edit: just preloaded cyberpunk. Pretty excited.

    Yeah.
So, my daughter wants a PC refresh for Christmas and I've been waiting for some AMD stock to show up. Best Buy got both CPUs and graphics cards in a little while ago, but they went out of stock almost immediately. This sucks, lol -- the big things we want are a PS5 and upgraded PC's and just can't get them!

My wife has the Kraken with the RGB cats ears. I bought it for her as a bit of a joke but she likes it. I will say she feels my G933 headset has better surround effect.

Ryzen 5600X stock is trickling in every day. If you have a microcenter nearby keep calling them, eventually they'll have some.

    Same with the graphics cards.

January some of this situation should improve.

Seriously wish we had a MicroCenter in Tampa... closest thing now is the smaller computer shops and those are picked over as can be. Did manage to get a 5600x cpu and a 5600xt video card. Was able to piece together the rest and now on a decent system finally.

Cool thank you for the advice. I'll be sure to check out unraid as well. It'll be sometime next year before I am able to actually set everything up and start experimenting with the best setup for me though. Just need somethign with parity, and support for plex/quadro cards.

I have one near me. Stopped by around opening time on Saturday to exchange a broken printer. Asked as a side if they had any ryzens or any of the 30 series gpus. The guy just laughed and said they did, but the people that were outside in the freezing cold at 4am got what they had.

I would have just liked to have gotten one of the newer gen video cards. Oh well, I can at least sit back and enjoy this build at least and not be itching for parts.

It's kind of funny. They promised Cyberpunk 2077 would be a true PC game and not just a console port. That being said the controls feel janky and a 5800X/3090 barely hold 90 fps on Ultra settings with DLSS 2.0 set to performance mode. It's clearly a fair console point at this point, hopefully it gets better.

Yep, I was partial to AMD because I wanted to have an all AMD rig but I was leaning towards the 3070, now I’ll go with the 6800 or 6800 XT when I have funds to drop on a GPU, I won’t buy an NVidia product unless it’s used or management changes.

I snagged a 6800 today if you're interested. Not looking for scalp prices or anything.
