A large-ish metal circular piece fell off the back of freight truck hauling chopped trees of some sort and rolled right in front of me 2 lanes over on the freeway going about 75.

Couldn't avoid it unfortunately, loud bang but just a small deep-ish paint chip from what I can see.. anybody know how much something like this will cost to fix up?

I know it's small but I literally just bought the truck brand new so I'm a bit annoyed. Unlucky I guess...

Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

Probably just a bit of touch up paint for $10. I wouldnt sweat the small stuff like that. Youll inevitably get rock chips and dings anyway.

Battle scar. Touch it up and live with it.

No worse than the 2016 wrx I had. 800miles, whacked a racoon at low speed in freezing Temps. That fat fucker rolled over and walked away, cracked bumper.

Or.. Similar milage on my taco new... Going through freshly laid street tar in the rain- 8 hours of detailing.

    You got off easy! Lol

I'll play the guessing game, 500 from a quality shop. Sanding, bodywork, and repaint the whole bumper. If you go to a quality place, painting is not cheap. It may even be more. Its a new truck, fix it, or you'll be looking at it for the life of the truck.

As someone who spends every saturday afternoon looking my truck over for rock chips and scratches to fix I can help you out here.

First thing I would do is to take a razer blade and knock down the hanging bit, scrape from right to left against the way the plastic is pushed. After doing that your going to want to get a touch up pen. The tip of the pen is a sanding bit that gets into the small spots. Use the tip to smooth out any roughness, then apply touch up paint to the area. You will probably need to do a few coats to get coverage.

It wont be perfect, but it will blend in and be less visable.

Hahaha. I had a feeling I'd probably get shit on for caring about something so small...

    Damn.. Brutal!

Thanks for the info. I'll probably take it in to a paint shop and see what they think and decide what to do from there..

Hmmmm, I wonder what my 3D pen would do for that. Got one last Christmas and still don't know what to use it on.

This is true, the one part of my truck I hope gets hit by someone is that black center part on my front bumper so I can justify to the wife that a new one costs $1000 and has giant hooks on it.

Man, some touch up paint and you are good to go. First one always hurts the most, even if its small.

    Wow that sounded weird...

    Yes, this.

My bumpers look shitty already, but i dont care. They are weak plastic pieces. As long as sheet metal looks good, im happy.
