    I'll dare to say that any modern semi or full synthetic oil is more than capable of running for 5,000 with no issues. I've submitted numerous samples of different types from SuperTech to Rotella to Castol at the 5,000 mark on everything from our CR-V to my modded Forester XT to my F4i. The SuperTech was consistently the most "used up" at that mileage but still had enough additives, cleaners, etc. that Blackstone deemed it to be doing a good job. The Rotella and Castrol probably could have been stretched to 7,500 but I like changing on a 5 or a 0...

    I use SuperTech High Mileage synthetic 5w30 with oem filter.
    Just got my report back from Blackstone.
    Had 4800mi on it and they said everything looked good and I should run it for another 1000mi.
    So I'll be doing my oil changes at every 6k mi.
    I also just added a syringe of Tribotex in the latest engine oil and another in the Manual Trans.

    On our first Tacoma I used the same 5w-30 Castrol and changed every 5k miles. Purchased that truck new and kept it 10 years and near 200k miles and it still ran fine. The second one purchased new I switched to Mobil 1 5w-30 due to better cold weather flow characteristics, change it every 5k as well. My newest one I run the 0-20 Mobil 1 and change it 5k miles as well. It could very well be a waste of money changing it that often but I'd rather change the oil regular than fart around with analysis. My daily driver is a Impala and the cars DIC would let me go close to or a little over 9k miles before it informed me to change it. On the Impala the farthest I've gone before changing it was 7,500. But as much ribbing you take for asking about oil...take it with a grain of salt. We just like to have fun here. Oh..and others mentioned just follow owners manual recommendation.

    I've used that clause on several occasions when I wanted a rebuilt engine for a car i owned but didn't have extra money for a swap.

    I would look for a filter brand that had a generous warranty, install their filter and then claim i got subsequent engine damage after using their product.

    Works every time

    I figured the 1st Fram filter that blew up was a fluke. So I paid $9k for a new engine. When the 2nd Frame let go and trashed another engine, I thought what are the odds? Another $10k and I was back on the road. No way a 3rd would fail, right?

    Fram told me to pound sand
