So was just texting another hunter on my lease. He says that he found hair (possibly human) around his feeder. Apparently this is a way to determine deer.

I’m so excited for him. Dropped him with his .243 @ 120 yards.

Hidden cameras is all I can think of. If you get proof, talk to whomever you lease from. (Hopefully it's not him).

He's out of state. It would have to be a hunter from a neighboring ranch.

Edit: looking back at some incidences.

    1. Found a partial Subway cup in another feeder.
    2. Found part of a corn bag in a third feeder. The part that opens the bag easily.
    3. The hair.
    4. I run 2 feeders. 1 always seemed to go through corn faster even though they are set the same.

Cole and I have been going hunting a lot and haven’t been seeing many deer at all. We’re both starting to get burnt out. We went Tuesday for 2 hours and saw nothing. I ask him yesterday when I got home from the machine shop if he wanted to go and he said “if you want to”. I said you need to run around outside and get some energy out, he’s 8.

Today I got to the store at 3:30 and ask him and he said the same thing. I said I tell you what, last shooting light is at 5:35, we can leave here at 4:45 and be in there at 5 and get 35 minutes in. They aren’t going to come in until then anyway. Plus it was 61° here today.

We have a blind set up near the gate on a hill we can sneak into 125 yards from the truck.

Sure enough, 5:30 I see a deer walking down the hill about 140 yards. He gets to 120 broadside and I said whenever you’re ready buddy. He had his .243 on one of those shooting sticks and I was watching through the binoculars.

When he pulled the trigger I watched the deer hit the ground and saw nothing but white belly. He racked another one and held it on him. He learned his lesson last week after dropping one in the same spot and it laid there a few minutes and ran off and we haven’t found it yet.

We were both super excited, I felt like I just shot a 160” buck.

We talked and he said dad, I feel like I’m going to cry. I said let it out buddy. He started crying and said I’m so excited, I got teared up cause I was so excited :D

I added some blaze orange to my hunting blind, 2 “big boy” hunting vests. My son has been talking more about deer hunting this year, even drew a picture at pre-school of me and him shooting a deer! I figured it was time to start getting ready for next year. We’re required to have blaze orange on hunting blinds, and I’m all in for keeping this kid safe in the woods.

I’ve never heard of having to have orange on a blind. Is that because it’s hilly where you are?

I hunt in Virginia, I think it was a new requirement this year.
