What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

You adjust the stock housings as normal.

 

I think he's talking about making sure the cutoffs are level. I think he just installed the projectors into the housings and hasn't sealed them up yet.

@Fernando I think you need to test mount the housings on the truck before sealing them up. If the cutoffs aren't level, you'll hate it and it will make them very challenging to aim properly.

 

Thanks guys. Mike is correct! Glad I waited then. Was going to seal them today. I dont see any way to adjust them tho. The top of the projector says "top" so the cutoffs should be right? I'll try them out anyways like you said Mike. Would be a PITA to open back up

Getting started again was the hardest part, you definitely got this my man

 

Got my Magnaflow cat and Denso A/F and O2 sensors installed. Only hitch was that the studs on the O2 sensor mount were toast, but fortunately, I had used stainless nuts, so the studs just snapped off. Rather than getting a new bung welded on, I pulled the pipe, ground down what was left of the studs, drilled and tapped for stainless bolts. Worked out fine. Thank goodness for my having used stainless hardware and generous amounts of antiseize when this was all touched several years ago. Everything else came apart easily.

 

You’ll definitely want to test fit them on the truck before sealing back up. Make sure the cutoffs are nice and level and then tighten down the locking nut. Then all vertical adjustments are made with the stock screw.

 

Has anyone installed an extra fuel tank under the bed? Where the spare tire lives? I added backup lights to my 98 taco, not a very exciting mod, but very helpful. I need to figure out how to upload pictures.

 

I had one on my 80 long bed. Was great. Would like to do it on my 04

 

Someone on here made a jig that held a couple of jerry cans in that location...

Just installed some diode dynamics amber fog lights and a Amazon switch panel

 

@BossFoss has a nice setup in the white truck.

 

Finally back together after a month (partially due to work)
Supercharger rebuilt/repaired including rear bearings, stripped and painted.
TB painted.
Valve cover gaskets and painted valve covers.
Fuel injectors flowed and cleaned.
AFR/Boost gauge installed.
Fuel filter finally changed.
New battery with terminals and alternator.
Now I can finally focus on the smaller pulley, fuel pump and water/meth install.
It never ends, does it?

 

I ended up using a suburban gas tank because that's what the junkyard had and was the right dimensions. It's too deep, no need for that much fuel. If I did it again I would use an early 90s Ford truck rear tank. Would fit nicely and be half the depth. Basically double your capacity and tuck it away nicely. Have a thread on this site somewhere of what I did. 1st gen suburban gas tank install or something like that.

How'd you get those rear needle bearings out, the ones on my SC I'm pretty sure are original. Heard you can pack em with bread, but putting them back seems difficult.

 

They are easy to smack out. then just put them in the freezer and they tap back int pretty good. Just make sure they are straight.

 

I pressed mine out.

For install similar to what Blackdawg said, freeze them.

I used a press to get them close, then a copper drift to seat them fully.
