I went 16 because i didnt know anything about rims and wanted something similar to OEM. hell didnt even know what offset was at the time.

After knowing more about rims now. I'd get a 17" had i needed to get new rims., just for the break upgrades. Imo you cant go wrong with either - even the middle east prefers 16 or 17 so when they turn out trucks into technicals - its an easy tire swap since its a common rim size around the world!

Good on you, i wouldnt go above 33s unless you do what @tacoma16 does and take it up interesting walls.
with 33s, pay attention to your wheel offset so you dont rub the cab mount like i do...

Technically I didn’t make it up the wall..... @Tridet167 made it up the bank I was trying. He is on 33’s. Just goes to show the driver listening to a good spotter makes all the difference

I crawled there before taking same line as you did, and I also never drive irresponsibly with blown shocks or unmaintained rig on trails. :luvya:

    So am I.
I think there were 2 river crossings and the one with a checkpoint was when you enter into Moosonee. so at best we do the drive on the winter road and over the rivers but not to Moosonee, I guess we might get turned back there. Which is alright with me.

i felt the same way and was honest and up front with my insurance company about all the aftermarket parts on my truck and even paid a slightly higher premium for it in the name of that extra coverage. remember the old adage no good deed goes unpunished?

my claim was finally settled from the October 3 incident this week. it was NOT a good claim experience... and NOT because of the nature of the incident as most will probably assume (that was cleared up surprisingly easy in the first 2 minutes of the initial phone call) but rather because of the ensuing battle over a reasonable value for the truck (in this crazy used Taco market) and especially the aftermarket parts. the way it actually went down with the claims dept was nothing like my agent assured me it would when we were discussing what coverage made sense.

i could go into a lot more detail but suffice it to say i wont bother disclosing add ons on the next one. it might be the right play with your agent/underwriter but it certainly wasnt for me.

I actually had a great call with an organizer for Rally here in ontario last night. He had done a ton of research and built up contacts on getting insurance for cars with cages going between stages or two and from events. Basically outlined that I will have to go to facility and getting conventional insurance whether it's from a classic car program or generic run of the mill coverage is not likely going to happen. He went over the advantages I have working with facility being that I'm not actually a high risk driver like the majority of people who are on facility and went over some other loopholes to help get a better rate. He gave me a list of brokers that are either friends of rally, motorsport enthusiasts or have an in depth knowledge of the facility program to best tick the right boxes to benefit everyone. I'm going to contact some of them today and see what they have to say.

Are you sure it’s the roll bar that they are denying issuance for and not the fact that the car is titled as unfit?

100% it's the roll bar. I've been told by my broker that I have all my vehicles on as well as Hagerty themselves. The title is unfit only because I didn't have a safety when I had the ownership changed over because I needed the ownership changed to get insurance.

Hi, what would be the reason for be turned back?

As of December 8, travel in and out of moossonee is unrestricted.
Winter road has historically being opened around the last week of January, AFAIK.

It also asks on that page for only essential travel right now, things could change though.

    COVID 19
Travel into and out of Moosonee

Please note that the travel notice issued by WAHA related to travel in the James Bay area referred to WAHA medical travel which is currently restricted due to Positive cases in one of the James Bay Communities.

Travel into and out of The Town of Moosonee remains unrestricted as per regulations and legislation applicable to municipalities in Ontario.

Air and rail travel continues to have requirements imposed by federal and provincial direction as well as corporate policies of the service providers to protect against the transmission of the virus and to assist health services in tracking potential contacts.

Air and Rail services remain on reduced services as capacity has been reduced and limited . Masks are required, distancing, screening questions , amongst additional steps.

The Town of Moosonee strongly encourages essential travel only -

Please remember and remind others that while the virus is accelerating now we are also at tbe beginning of tbe end with vacines starting to roll out in January - it is critical that each of us individually ask ourselves - “am i wearing a mask when i should be, am i keeping my distance, am i limiting my travel where possible, am i washing my hands enough?”
