Need to move 3 sleds

me and 2 friends want to head north and go snowmobiling. I have one problem though, 3 sleds, 1 truck, 1 2 sled trailer. Does anyone know if i put one in the bed if i will be able to still pull the trailer? I know the sleds tend to hang off quite a bit. Any help is appreciated

 

i forgot to mention i have a 6 foot bed

 

yeah you should be fine if you clear the trailer on tight corners with the tailgate down, if not tail gate up and track sits on that. Does it have a salt shield or touge jack..watch for that other wise no prob

 

Just close the tailgate and have the ass of the sled stick up in the air. Then the sled hanging off the back shouldn't interfere with the sled trailer.

Plus this way the sled is better secured, and better for your tailgate too.

 

Take the tailgate off, no need for it to be on with a sled in the back.. I use to mess my tailgate up every time I would put the sled in the back or take it out.. The ramp I used wasn't the best though..

 

x2. If you need a little extra length you can put a piece of plywood in the bed and use a block of wood to step it down so it's supported by the bumper. If it clears with the tailgate down, great but make sure you check it really well, if you corner tight or if the jack hits the tailgate it causes a lot of damage in a hurry.

 

If you take the tailgate off though, how are you supposed to keep your gear in the bed of the truck?

best scenario is to travel with the tailgate up. I've done it many times, with and without a trailer. Never a problem.

 

Same way as with the tailgate down... bungee cord and tie down straps. You should secure your stuff even with the taligate up.

why not have the tailgate too though? sled is better secured with it on, and it definitely won't get eaten by your trailer.

 

Completely depends on the trailer. Read my whole post, I said if it clears then fine but some trailers will hit the tailgate if you crank it over tight in a turn or the jack handles can hit the tailgate if you hit an incline. You can't make the blanket statement that all trailers are fine with the tailgate down just because yours works.

 

you should read mine closer, i suggested putting the tailgate UP. so the tailgate is definitely out of the way, and the ass of the sled will be farther away from the trailer than if it was down.

Plus your gear is safer in the back, and the sled is better secured.

Gotcha, I thought you were talking about traveling with the tailgate down and the sled hanging off the back. My bad, you're method would work well.
