    I’ve got a good set of extractors that run to 2 high flow cats and then a high flow muffler. Then it’s 3inch from muffler out. So that shouldn’t be an issue.

    One of the main purposes of locking torque converters is to reduce heat generation. When the TC is spinning and not locked up, it's more like when you're slipping a clutch in a manual. Once it's clamped to the flywheel, you're not heating it up anymore.

    Even if you're loading it up in a low gear? I would think that if you are doing something say like a dyno run and start it from a dead stop locked that it would actually generate excessive heat while trying to bring it up to a proper RPM in the powerband.

    From my very limited understanding it will not in that situation, you will just be very slow to get it going because the gearing in a locked up automatic is very different than the gearing in a manual trans. I would be similar to having a manual with factory axle gearing and trying to take off with 44's and not feathering the clutch at all. It may do it, but it will be slow. Again very limited knowledge but I do know if I want to lower my trans temp, lock in the torque converter by manually shifting the truck.

    Same as I bolded above. I'm familiar with trannys and how they operate but not how they would produce heat in this aspect or lack thereof. I'm also familiar with lugging manuals in a very tall gear so I get what it would be like. That's why I don't understand why folks dyno tuning would strongly discourage against locking the converter during a pull from start to finish, which is actually what happened to me when I dyno'ed mine. They mentioned excessive heat production which probably threw my knowledge of the matter for a loop. I don't know. At this point I'm open for new perspectives of knowledge regarding it.

    This is good info. So you CAN indeed burn out the torque converter at lock up under wide open throttle. This is why I mentioned excessive heat generation earlier.

    My shit is all stock.
    Maybe with an LSx motor. I seriously doubt that we need to worry about that.

    You are generating heat if things are slipping. Locked up (without slippage) is not generating heat.
