    Moron Report.

    Cust. was a late appointment.
Saw the prewrite and hoped I was next.
Cust drives in and drivers wiper arm was bent and I walked by and hood paint was also damaged.

ASM starts talking to this guy and he’s bitching about the car is screwed up and my arm is bent and paint is scratched.
So I walk by ( on purpose ) and by luck the asm asked me a question.
    AWESOME..

So I look at the damage.
    Yeup. I know what happened.
    Asm said that happened.
I said customer didn’t read his owners manual.
Cust goes what do you mean.
You didn’t read your owners manual.
    Why should I ?
I said Obviously sir you should cause on page 212 It tells you how to replace the wiper blades and on page 213 it describes the damage that will happen if you don’t follow page 212.
The wiper motor has to be in service mode..
    What’s service mode?
    Page 212 explains it..
    (IM LOVING THIS)

so now you need to go to the parts dept and order a new wiper arm and blade and get to a body shop to fix the paint.

He says Toyota needs to pay for that.
    Ahhhhh No...

    You broke your car.
improper procedure did that damage. Not Toyota’s fault..

So how come you know this? He asked.
I said cause I knew people would pull this and try to blame the car.
Well, your number one of many I’m sure..

You need to leave your brand new car alone.
    see ya..

    Back Story:

2021 Avalon has hidden wipers with overload protection.
Service mode puts the wipers in the proper position to service the blades.
I learned this a year before they came out and I remembered this and researched the pages
And committed it to memory cause I knew someone would do this.
saves lots of time and paperwork...

    and it’s Friday.......

so a $10 wiper blade turns into a $500 repair?

    they keep ramping shit up.
50 computers in some vehicles now..
There is going to be a time when No one is going to be able to work on these vehicles.
No mods, no changes, etc. I’m electronically adjusting avoidance sensors by 1/2 degree.
That’s how sensitive these things are. Putting a lift will be a no no.
You won’t be able to do anything,,,...

Mike...here is what I know. Rather than complaining that guy should have been thanking you for the education. I have two bachelors and a masters degree and I can tell you I learned more from this post then I did in several of my university level classes. $500.00 plus or minus repair bill is cheap education...just sayin...appreciate what you do and what you stand for.

Hahaha I’m editing to add: I was sharing the moron report with my wife..she asked have you read our new car’s manual yet?...I guess I know what I’m doing tomorrow...

Well said, however, folks that can afford that car normally don't have the capacity to learn. They want served because their ego is phucked by the $500 mistake and someone else has to put up the work and money. I dealt with these clowns for a few decades and I'm glad I'm done. 90% of my customers were great folks. The other 10% didn't have time for their cars, the advice or the service. Their phone was ringing and they were off to do another deal.
