    A thing or two...
    The car is a VA generation WRX. Given the 2.3L displacement at the beginning of the video, I'd guess it's either a bored out FA20 or EJ20. The FA20 is direct injection. With a BRZ/GRS intake manifold, it can run both direct and port injection. Motec makes a plug-n-play ECU for the VA WRX that can run dual injection. Radium makes a dual pump hanger for the stock VA tank, but I'd imagine that they're running a cell.

    They did a weak break down on the car last week. Built EJ motor bored out. Wish they unbolt the bottom one day to see that transmission layout.

    The rav4 is going back together better than I figured. Pistons look Frickin amazing after I got all that burnt marshmallow off of em. Hopefully will gave the head back on and hoses starting to get hooked back up, while my buddy buttons up the rest of the bottom side tonight. A lot of work for.no extra horsepower but a dramatic decrease in oil consumption is okay with me lol.

    Yeah new rings and head gasket... I'm trying to torque down the rod bolts now whilenhe is getting chickens delivered... In down to one bolt and its the hardest to get too of course and it must have fallen out so magnet time; fishing in the bottom end lol

    Well after 10 minutes with no bites, found it just laying under the car where the driver tire would be... Tis a pain to get too for sure.

    Any tips on knowing when a cyl is tdc on compression stroke or exhaust or have I just got a 50/50 shot?

    Long 1/4 inch extension down spark plug hole to determine when at top of stroke, check which valve is open when piston is all the way up.

    Edit: emphasis on long extension. Don't want to lose that thing in there!

    I need to know to set the timing. I didnt take the chain cover off so I cant see how it lines up on the crank but I know that the passenger side should be tdc compression stroke and the lives go out on that cyl and in on the driver side... I mean what's the worse that can happen if timing is advanced 180°?

    Crank pulley has a notch that matches on the cover for your Zero. Then you just need to make sure that number one piston is at the top when the pulley is aligned.

    Can I see that with the timing chain cover on... Maybe get a mirror up in there?

    Should be able to look down from the top with a flashlight I would think... can't be worse than my buddies '64 Austin healey. On the back of the crank pulley, directly above the crossmember.
