Guilty. I did all of Fordyce and it's the real deal. I think a lot of people that say the did Fordyce just do Commitee to the lake. That trail will be closed for the next two years so if you want access you'll have to do the actual trail. It is not for the faint of heart, people without F/R lockers and I wouldn't even consider doing it solo.

All the video I've seen back the above statements. I'm just a huge trout bum and would love to access that part of the watershed/ yuba. I have considered walking in as my truck in no way would make it up. Have even considered picking up an old crawler for a season just to explore that zone.

I've done my fair share of trout fishing in the Sierra. I'll give you two solid tips.

If you ever do Dusy/Ershim camp at Eagle Lake.
If you ever climb Mt Whitney camp at Upper Boy Scout Lake.

I'm an addict for trout on the fly. Have fished the sierra all over, heres a snap of some of my travels, zoomed out of course. Some of my favorite locations are in your neck of the woods.

I used to fly fish almost exclusively back East. Then I moved to Cali about 15 years ago and got hooked on mini-jigs. They are all I throw now. The only time I miss my flyrod is when there's a perfect hatch coming off. Which is about 1% of the time. lol

Do you do much hike in fishing? Like 5-10 miles in?

I'm Boston born, picked up my fly skills back east as well, but have lived in the bay going on 13 years(SF & Oak). I mostly put down the fly rod and fished spinning rods until my mid 20s, 33 now and am pretty much only throwing dry flies if possible. I mostly drive/4x4 into spots as a base, camp, than hike 3-5 miles a day blue lining (chasing small unfished water is my favorite). Would be happy to share some of my eastern sierra zones through DM if you're interested or don't already know. Theres is such a vast amount of forest roads and BLM zones out there its almost impossible to cover it all in a life time

I mean, I don't drink often. Maybe a few times a year. I pretty much refuse to drink to the trail. Though, I have sent it... very slowly, but it was sent nonetheless. :bananadead:

There's so much water you will never fish it all in 10 lifetimes. I fish lakes 95% of the time. My favorite lakes are over 11000' that require at least 5 miles of hiking to get too. I've fished more of those "fishless" lakes then most at this point. Let's just say only about 20% are accurately labeled by DFG. I'm sure you found some gems as well.

Next time you head over to the East Side to do some wheeling or fishing shoot me a PM. If I ever got over to the West Side I'll do the same.

No judgement here. We all make our own choices, some fish swim up stream. They're called Salmon. And I for sure can't say I would have handled it differently and or any better. :tumbleweed:

Sounds good man, We're on steelhead over here this time of the season and are waiting for rain for the quality fishing to start. I wish I had Owens and Hot Creek in my backyard to fish all year. You fish the browns out there at all this time of year?

Yeah, I'm spoiled. I live 4 miles from the Lower O no-kill section.

I hope you get some rain for the Steelies but it's not looking good so far. There's hardly any snow even up at 12000'.
