Compartment syndrome can be addressed in the OR, after stabilization.

Seen too many para and quads..No one has x-ray eyes, move them the wrong way and they’re done. I would never assume, expect the worst and hope for the best.

To TQ or not to TQ. That question has had yes and no answers over the years. Red Cross taught it’s use. But improper use lead to problems. So they backed off. Now it’s getting popular again.

The point is, it’s one tool in the box. But with a serious injury you don’t have time to hem and haw. Or you may be faced with multiple victims. In the end it’s all up to the skill and determination of the rescuer.

One thing folks tend to forget is that you can’t save them all.

Personally I have a setup heavy towards trauma.

I have decided I need to add small things like glucose for diabetics.

    I roll with 8 Tourniquets
    4 combat gauze
    8 regular gauze
    2 abdominal dressings
    4 ETD
    1 cric kit
    10 needle decompression
    4 chest seals
    2 NPA
    1 chest tube kit
    4 casualty cards

Added some chem lights for signaling and a strobe

With all due respect, you do not move, especially an unwitnessed MVC/Trauma patient without Cervical Spine Immobilization. Please stock a Small, Medium and Large Cervical Spine Collar in your arsenel. Pneumo/Hemothorax VS paralysis, do no harm dude. Do not play ambulance if you can not foresee the consequences.

Do no harm? If you don’t have a license number of a sorts or at least use to, you shouldn’t be intubating, doing chest tubes, cric’ing or triaging. If you’re a military medic, you have no business triaging at all as civs do it differently, you are only getting in the way.

Honestly, if you’re not willing to take a lawsuit, you shouldn’t be doing shit period, unless absolutely necessary.

Suppose you shouldn't carry a gun as a cop is better.

    Shouldn't change a tire as you're not a mechanic

Shouldn't cook food as you're not a chef.

Pump the brakes on the self righteous bullshit. I have been at 3 different incidents just driving along. The most recent was a vehicle roll with ejected passengers. Sometimes you gotta do more than nothing. I'm sure the Atlanta officer appreciated the help.

Good Samaritan laws are in effect, just saying ejected passenger signifies c spine injury. You just paralyzed passenger for life.. Can you live with that Boy Scout?

Well seeing as he was an ejected passenger his chances of survival already hit below 30 add in the massive trauma to his head face neck and missing arm I'd say just the fact he got picked up and was still "alive" was impressive. But go ahead and suck your own ego back to your bullshit ABC and asking for permission from daddy. :brianr:

For some, not carrying a gun IS safer.

For some, maybe a tire is fine, but trying to rebuild an engine is too much. Let’s put that in perspective like a chest tube..

I dunno. Chest tube is pretty easy...was concerned about it the first time but a few in, little finger thoro and not being ginger about it really makes quick work
