Well. Got a light dusting of snow. Not enough snow to go ski on but also too much snow to really get some good rides in. It's also freezing. I looooovveee shoulder season as I sit at home all awkward, getting fat. :/

Welcome to RI. Cold as balls, just enough snow to coat the trails, not enough for anything fun, but warms up every so often enough that lakes don't freeze over enough for anything on the ice, and sundown is 4:15.

Lol. Yeah...That's pretty much Utah right now. Forgot about sundown being early. It's about 5 around these parts right now.

Yeah. I saw that post. Traffic's lightened up since though. ‍♂️

I'm kinda digging the Vail Resorts reservation system when I see traffic like that headed to the mountains. Are they doing that in Utah? The have capped the daily attendance at resorts in Colorado but for some reason those numbers are not public.

Edit: Kinda sucks for powder days because you need to book so far out to get a day.

God, that's awful. Especially this early in the year.

Depends on the resort. Some are doing a ticket reservation, some are doing a parking reservation to slow it down. but in general yeah, there is some kind of limiting happening.

Not surprising. I didn’t get a pass this year, first time in over 25 years. Went ahead and got a full splitty setup for me, and touring for the wifey, instead. No thanks to those lines and the first year the resorts are trying to figure out the ‘rona. Time to get into the BC some more.

Problem here is that you gotta get in that line to go touring too. At least, the good/easy touring.

Truth, but I don't mind waiting till 10 to get up there if I'm touring. By then the traffic is much better.

Not sure when you last tried to tour around here, but if you wait till 10 there won't be any parking at the popular trailheads. Even weekends, I almost exclusively dawn patrol these days.

What mud guard are you running in the rear?
Is it a rear specific or just fork mount one you’ve adapted to the rear?

Any fellow riders use a softopper? Thinking about getting one, but wondering if it’s a pain to fold down when you want to toss the bikes over the tailgate.

i had one but not for the bikes. Very easy to fold if you don’t use the boot. The boot isn’t difficult it’s just annoying. If I had a soft topper I’d probably take the wheel off and have a mount in the bed instead and have them completely covered and blocked from view. You can roll up the back panel even easier though. Takes a few seconds. I had one for a road trip and ended up discovering the cab is a much better setup.

OP of the thread @ccallen ran a tailgate pad and a softopper for quite a while.

Think I might go gold on the new hardtail instead of silver. Pretty sure my Hellbender bottom bracket is black and gold, so that little bit was enough to potentially sway me. We'll find out Tuesday.

    If so,
    Gold Hydra hubs
    Gold AB oval ring
    Gold I9 stem
    Gold Wolftooth seatclamp
