One good aspect of having a pond is you understand that there is a force necessary to have water flow uphill. Finding the correct pump is the challenge. Too strong a pump in the pond can lead to sucking in small fish and aquatic plants thus clogging the pump. I wish I knew more about ponds when we installed ours about 14 years ago. I would have a totally different basic pond structure, water pump and pressure filter design. I would also have incorporated a bottom drain and skimmer.

Good morning Mark. I hope you are feeling better this morning.

Good afternoon Porch People! I guess I am getting more proof that I am retired, and there is no need for days. Since the wife wanted turkey and Thanksgiving again, I am smoking a breast for the first time, and it's a Thursday. But all day long, I have been convinced it IS Thanksgiving! I keep looking for the football game, the munchies, and wondering why everyone is out and about!
Well, I guess it will be in about an hour. And I get my game later tonight.

    20201210_163237.jpg

Since this takes almost as long as the whole thing, next time we'll just do that again. The dog can always use the dark meat in his custom Mom Made dinners!

:santa: Good Morning folks. Have a great FRIDAY. Yes, even everyday is Saturday members are allowed Fridays!

Really enjoyed our Thanksgiving redux, but next time I will just spend the 4 hours on a whole bird!

While putzing the cook, had to figure out why my little controller didn't turn on the heat fan in the shed. Ah so, poor Chinese instructions, and REVERSE control logic. Set point is when you want it OFF, and you subtract Hysteresis for the ON temp. :der: Moved the temp sensor so it's right next to the sensor that gives me the shed temp inside, and made my barrier (heat baffle) bigger.

    Have a great one!

Good Morning Porch! Yep, another Saturday. My Longhorns got Covided, so there is really only Army/Navy to care about. My plans are thin, but that's OK for today. Got to save some things for those weekday Saturdays. Probably going to mess with the bumper fog lights (again) and putz in the garage for the weekend list. :pccoffee:

Good morning all. Got a little rain here in sunny Northern California which is a good thing. We need a lot more though.
Yesterday not the greatest of days. I had brachytherapy for prostate cancer. That is where they implant radioactive seeds in the prostate. The procedure was out patient and wasn’t bad but having a Foley catheter is awful. Only 2 days and then it comes out.
I am fortunate it was caught early , there is 95% chance this will completely cure the cancer. Even without treatment the doctors say I would still be around 10 years from now as it is a very slow progressing cancer. In a week I’ll be able to go back to completely normal activities. For males if you live long enough there is a high chance you will get prostate cancer. I have researched prostate cancer thoroughly (and have a medical background) if any are interested I’ll give a brief written presentation on it so you can be your own advocate and learn what to look for to detect it early. Caught early it’s close to 100% curable.
So today is a great day. I end this with an Intuit prayer/poem that is one of my basic philosophy’s on life
I think over again my small adventures.
    My fears,
Those small ones that seemed so big,
    For all the vital things
I had to get and reach.
And yet there is only one great thing,
    The only thing,
To live to see the great day that dawns
And the light that fills the world.

Welcome aboard. Senior members will inform you about cooler duty!

Sorry and glad for you Ken. I got diagnosed and radiated about 10 years ago. Made me then man I'm not now! But it's done with!!

Ran a Lowes errand so I'd not run out of things to be doing. 12 bags of mulch , because I said this year I was going to do it right after cleaned beds, so to cut down on the wife's wedding in spring. Inspector Rex checks the haul!

Love your dog Kurt, he’s cute as can be. Looks like he’s the boss.

Welcome aboard kywoodsrider. Years ago I did it in the dirt with a Yamaha 360, a Honda 250 and a Honda 150. I liked the Yamaha, that thing would climb up anything. But the 150 was my favorite. Light weight and maneuverable I could go anywhere with it.

Thanks Ken. Note the wire rope leash? Out front of the house, he will BOLT and he's fast. He's getting a wireless fence for Christmas! We'll see if we can get him to be responsible where there isn't the back fence! Wife got him as a rescue last New Year, and after 50 years of cats, he's a good dog. His first Christmas!

My buddy had a brain damaged dog. Lol. He would bolt for the wireless fence and
Yelp as he went through. Then after he was done playing he would sit at the edge of the area
And cry and whimper. Had to carry him back through the area with the fence off. Then do it all over again the next day. He figured out a full head of steam was less painful Lol.

Yeah, I forgot our brain damaged dog wife brought home once from work. He didn't make a good pet. Gave him to some buddies out in the country where he had lots of room. One day he followed their car down the road at full gallop. They came to the T stop, and he didn't. Never saw him again.

These new fences have a directional bias, so it's OK to return through the barrier. And lots of settings. And marker flags. And a training manual.

I certainly hope so. He escaped me the FIRST day while wife was at the store. I was sure I would be killed. He's done it a few times when we're not fast on a gate, but he really just goes around the block and comes home. He just hates being NOT where we are when out front.
