Gran Turismo 5

I've been trying to win the NASCAR Special Events races to win a NASCAR (not wanting to waste 500K on purchasing one), but f-me some of them are tough. I hate that stupid one where you have to race the high-line between the bank and cones. Can't get past it.

I won the first Like the Wind race at Daytona with my ZR1, that was easy enough. The Indy one through is kicking my butt. I tried using the Bugatti at Indy, but it is a bitch to control at extremely high speeds. I've managed to get 2nd with my ZR1 at Indy, but that is the best I've done so far (after hours and hours of running that race).

I'm only at level 9 with the B-spec races, so it will be a while before I get the Zonda R.

I've given up on the NASCAR challenges. I dont like NASCAR, and the challenges are pretty damn difficult too. Fortunately for me, I bought my copy at Game Stop, it came with a code to download a Toyota Camry NASCAR car, and a "stealth" McLaren F1.

 

I pre-ordered my CE copy at GameStop as well.... and it STILL hasn't come in yet. Suppose to get 5 DLC cars with the pre-order. WTF? What's the point of pre-ordering.

I have a loaner copy from them in the meantime. They have no ETA on when my collectors edition will be available.

 

It sounds like GameStop is being lazy and isn't ordering it for you.

 

so for the first time in the series, i can honestly say i'm disappointed. even to the point where i'm thinking of getting rid of it-- anyone interested??

 

^^^that's funny. I love my 700hp Nissan GT-R. Set the game aside for a week, was starting to get pissed about the shitty cars you win.

 

All in all, it's fun. But I was expecting WAY more. Premium car detail is stunning, but it's still the same old Gran Turismo. With all the delays on the release date, I am disappointed. However, I do know that I will be playing this game when I get bored. Racing is always fun.

 

Despite all this games shortcomings, I still like it. It's not as intense as NFS Shift or even Grid. This is a game where I have to take my time and plan my career.
Not the best. Not the worst.

 

The first shipment was delivered on time, and most who pre-ordered the collectors edition got theirs from this store. I was one of 5 that had their CE on a scheduled 2nd shipment, that never came.

Rumor mill is that a large shipment was stolen... who knows. I'm loosing confidence that I'll ever see my copy.

 

Well it was a sad day for dodge truck owners seeing how my Taco X-runner took the Dodge for a long walk on 3 tracks. The X-runner has 590hp and Dodge has 730hp, but even with the extra 140hp my buddies 4 wheel drive truck could not keep up with Tacoma. We have been talking trash for over a week at work about who was going to be looking at whose tail lights. Last night the XR went 3 for 3, it is alot quiter at work today. Top speed 190mph ,dodge not sure because he was too small in my rear veiw mirror to tell.......................

 

What is this code you speak off?? I need a code to the fastest super car please.

 

Go to Game Stop and ask them to hook ya up on the code.

About the Dodge truck beat down, I try to tell him the Dodge would not hang with the XR. I saw a Xrunner in the used car lot so I bought it and sent him a REAL sport truck.

 

I was just messing around today and this happened:
Racing my GTR in the Supercar Challenge @ Daytona. I'm just overtaking the VW W12 for 1st and he clips me. I spun around into the wall, but kept going at 200 mph !
It got ugly when I tried to recover, got t-boned and knocked back to last place.

^^ The Intermediate race is even more of a pain.... The Lotus 111R drives like its on ice.

I have to say, I'm getting easily frustrated having to attempt a stupid race 20+ times just to get some progress. It's the special events and the licenses. Who needs 'em ?

I'm about to just play arcade mode and chill the fuck out.
