Right on brother. Long live the manual!

But yes, like shakerhood said, 17 was the last year of 4 cyl MTs.

Keep that bad boy! IMHO It will be very desirable when they stop making MT tacos. That 2.7 with MT will last forever.

Most of the time I double clutch shifting down to second, my old Ranger preferred it that way and the habit remains.

My bad habit: Before going into First I always drop into Second then move into First. It's an old habit I picked-up from driving my air-cooled VW's to make sure I'm actually lined-up with First.

I just prefer a M/T and I believe it enables you to master the task of driving (it is a task and a lot of people are terrible at it).

Salesman had me test drive an automatic before I bought my truck. We didn’t even make it to the two blocks from the lot before I turned around lol.

I’m sure I will be forced into an auto per the marketplace choices, but I’ll hold out as long as I can.

Exactly. I'm 75, and drifting off to sleep while driving is one of my great fears. Maximum driver input is one antidote. That's one reason why I like the manual transmission. It's also why I never use Cruise Control.

The number 2 reason I purchased the Sport -- the ride says "game on" every time I pull out of the driveway.

Yes, some folks say you feel every pebble in the road -- damn straight, when you drive this thing you feel like you are doing something! Even after driving for hours I feel engaged and on my game -- I'm still having fun. Driving is about the only thing left that I do for enjoyment so I never need to worry about falling asleep.

BTW -- The number 1 reason: It looked cool, I wanted it...

Thankfully my Salesman was total low-pressure. I arranged ahead of time to test drive a M/T and that’s what was waiting for me when I got there. I was on the fence between a Taco and a 4Runner (which would have cost more) and the Sales guy actually talked me out of the 4Runner. My kind of Salesman and if he’s still at that dealer next year when my GF is ready for a new SUV I’ll use him again.

My wife was having a repair made on her second gen and I asked her to look and see if they have any white access cab 4x4s on the lot. She sent me photos of one being off loaded from the truck....it was destiny to be mine. I wouldn't do business with that particular dealer if it was the last on earth so I stopped at another dealer and they went and got it for me and beat the other dealer price by $500.00 so $1,500.00 below MSRP. I'm happy.

Oh and I forgot to mention white access cab 4x4 with manual transmission. The repair being made on her second gen was the blower switch. It didn't work correctly for more than 2 days. It was here on TW that I learned the issue with the connector and had it repaired properly at the dealer where I ultimately bought my new one.

because they don't hook my transmission up to my radiator. And I have a 4 banger that I like to run high in the RPMs

It does big time! And I just happened to stop at another dealer in LaVista to see if they might have one...no manuals at all, apparently rare as hen's teeth. Anyway he offered to go get it for me with the deal mentioned. He drove it the 45 miles from one dealer to the other. When I went to pick it up he asked do I want a test drive? I asked how he liked it, he replied awesome. I declined the test drive wrote a check and off i went.

The other 2 toyota pickups I’ve owned in the past were both 4 cyl. sticks, but with this one being a V6 and having sport mode (which is like having the control over the gears like manual, just without the 3rd pedal), I wanted the convenience of not having to clutch in traffic and keep my right hand free to smack the kids in the back seat when they get out of line. ;)

Thinking about trading my 2015 auto 4x4 4 banger access w.28 k for a 2016 mt v6 4x4 w. 80k. It'll cost me, but I do miss the MT that I had on twenty years or so of gen 1 MT's. Plowing and boat ramps won't be as easy but my left foot will be happy. Traffic is only an issue when I pass through Boston, not very often and I can cuss.
