Just a Snug Top with Sportsman’s package 1 inch lift and 265/75-16 Duratracs.
I have a tough time with self control sometimes but my wife is on board with leaving California next year so I’m motivated to pinch every penny in order to leave this fine state. That’s also why my truck is completely stock. My plan later on is to lift it a few inches, get aluminum sliders, skids and a front bumper (just run some BDR type stuff). Perhaps go up to a 17 inch wheel and run a cheater 33. Luckily I’ve still got my old XJ that’s just overly built but it’s horrible on the highway for the family and those things have zero space. Honestly, just my Yeti takes up 3/4 of the trunk and then throw a kid, German Shepherd and crazy wife into the equation and my truck suddenly ain’t enough either. Anyways, now I’m just rambling...

I got em in the SL (116T) load range. I drive a lot of road miles for work mixed with light off-roading to access planting sites/camping so the lighter tires work better for me. I used to put E's on my jeeps and the ride was awful so I wanted to avoid that given my planned usage. If I was interested in doing rock crawling or used this truck to drive through a lot of slash debris in a forest setting then I might consider an E load range for the extra ply's. Otherwise it would be overkill.

It's old news, been discussed many times.

Try a better tire shop. ;) 265/75/16 KO2s on my stock SR - stock wheels, stock suspension, 2WD. Actually, I went to Americas Tire and they said that the size MAY rub, I said fine, put 'em on. No issues yet.

That looks good! you even still have the air dam thing on too and looks like its not that close to rub on stuff. I do have mud flaps but the are TuffSkinzs so the are thin and flat. I tried BJ's, NTB, Tires plus and Mavis tire they all go by the book sizing for "Liability". I did contact a shop the other day that said they would have to have me bring it over for them to see first. I'm going to see if I can get over there this weekend to see what they will say. they sell used tires too so maybe I can get some trade for the stock tires.

I have purchased 265/75r16 tires for my Tacoma from Discount Tire without any “Liability” concerns whatsoever. You may want to try them, great prices and warranty as well, including lifetime balance and rotations.

I have heard Discount Tire is good but the closest locations are Pittsburgh PA or Henrico VA both over 150miles away. I could buy from them directly and have tires shipped but then i need to get them mounted or buy new wheels, which I wasn't planning on so I could bolt them on myself.
I'm thinking it's best to keep looking for a local place that is willing to mount tire purchased there.

I am sure the "Liability" thing I'm getting from tire stores near me so far is because they just don't want to risk customer complaints and bring backs for fitment issues.

Do y’all swap out your spare tires when changing to 256/75’s? I’m not trying to pinch pennies, just curious what the common approach is on TW?

Generally curious actually, as this is my first truck. I know the donuts are small on most cars, but perhaps with a truck you’d want to have a full size spare at all times.

Personally (and i dont know much) I'd say a mismatched spare is fine as long as you're treating it like a donut - meaning you're only using it to get to a repair shop and youre driving slow, etc. Its less than ideal, but should be fine for a few low speed miles.

The stock tire can be use on the front since it's ifs, the rear needs to match solid axle.
But I had never had a flat on the road with these size tires. If I get a screw or nail it doesn't even go flat so I just go to the tire place and get it fix.

I actually have two spares for when I am out in more remote areas, both are 265/75R16's, to match the other four. One is a new tire, and the other is a used tire that's good enough for a second spare (cost me $40). I believe it's worth having the spare the same diameter as the rest, but I can appreciate the concern over the additional expense.

Ideally I’d have a matching spare and rim. I always used to buy 5 tires for my Jeep and do 5 tire rotations. I would get 60k miles or more out of a set of tires, it was awesome. Perhaps one day I’ll do that with the Taco but for now I’ve got 4 new 265 Duratracs just waiting to go on and I’ll rock the factory spare.

On a side note I stole all the on board air off my Jeep. I was going to install it on the truck but I might just use the compressor and make a portable unit, I also carry different patches and tire worms for trail repairs. I feel bad putting old OBA on such a nice truck so maybe one day I’ll get the ARB twin air or some something. Until then my old Viair works great.

On a side side note...what kind of miles are you guys getting from the Duratracs? I’m hoping maybe 40k???

I'm considering going with these All Terrain tires on mine.
Hercules Terra Trac AT2 "Hercules Tires | Hercules Terra Trac AT II" https://www.herculestire.com/tire-details/Hercules/Terra-Trac-AT-II

Anyone try these on a Tacoma? They seem fairly reasonable in price and get decent reviews. I did have the older original version of these on my Jeep. Infact I had 2sets of those older ones on the Jeep. They we're good in the snow, decent off road and not too noisy on the road. The sidewall is not as agressive looking as some other popular tires is the only thing negative. I been having issues with local tire store chains being willing to install the 265/75R16 since it's not a size toyota lists as stock, but the place that is selling these seems willing.
