    A thing or two...
    Cool.

I'm looking at OLED TVs and wondering if a projector would be a better option. It's 11-12 ft from where the TV would be to the sofa. OLEDs max at 77", but the math says 85-115" for a 30-40 degree viewing angle.

There's a lot that goes into deciding between a TV and a projector!

The amount of ambient light being foremost as unless you have a light cannon for a projector or a high gain screen or sometimes both, it image might not be bright enough to overcome the ambient light and will look washed out.

Also keep in mind that pixel density and distance from the screen come into play for perceived picture quality. Examples: I have a 50" 1080 plasma that my son sits about 6' away from. My projector is tossing an image with the same resolution but is 9 times the size so it couldn't nearly look as crisp as the plasma. That's not to say it doesn't look good, far from it, but it just simply can't compete. On the flip side, the immersion of an image that size offsets the supposed loss of image quality a lot, too.

One other major consideration for a projector is are you able to get power and an HDMI cable where it needs to be mounted?

For all of these, I was extremely fortunate. This house was built with the intention of this being a theater room. It's in the basement with no windows and sliding barn doors so I can make it essentially black with the lights off. There was already a receptacle in the ceiling for power and I used a tape measure with a string tied to it to pull the HDMI across the top of the sheetrock ceiling I to the mechanical room where the receiver and other gear is located.

If there are any reservations about any of that, as much as I love my projector, you might be better of with the TV.

Morning. Eye opener. This thing is nice for a quick cup on way out the door for 45 minute drive to work. Weekends I usually brew a pot.20201213_051647.jpg

About them darn rodents; not just the horrible smell decomposing, but the places they nest and things they chew up! The old car I've been working on sat in a barn since mid 80's. Some nest are obviously more recent. 20200620_165044.jpg

Morning, it’s definitely a coffee morning! Eating a pastry and sippin on coffee. Back is a bit sore from the wood work yesterday. Gotta do some house chores and ready the garage for possibility of snow this coming week.

Trust me I understand about that log hogging lol. When I've cut and split the little I used to burn, I split the old fashioned way. Then met a fellow who sold cut and split wood and last time charged me $80.00 for a full size pick up load. Every muscle in my body said 80 bucks was cheap!

That picture I posted was just a portion of what rodents had chewed up to nest inside the frame. I used that hose to blow all that crap out. Lucky the frame is still solid and cleaned up well. I have lots of sticky traps and poisen out there now. Sometimes I want a nicer shop and the wife tells me build one but what I'd want would cost a small fortune. I've even thought about having spray insulation put on the old pole shed for 10k at least, but be easier to heat it then.

I purchased a couple of these last weekend. More of a small donation. Anyway I think they're cool and because I work in power generation. It boggles my mind how far we've advanced in just a 120 years....even 40 years! I did a small job at a fossil plant about 18 years ago and they had a small generator built by Thomas Edison in the late 1800's20201206_114159.jpg

You’re the smoker king, what temp should I get it to in the middle? I don’t want to over cook it.

if any of you folks run these I’d make sure to keep an eye on the oil. This one needs a motor job. Turns out 1/2 quart ain’t quite enough for a big v twin.
