many people have their router and or modem parked right next to the tv anyways. In today's day and age when even toilet seats are wi-fi or blue tooth ... you should be able to use your internet just as fine. If your computer does not have a wireless connection.. you can always buy a wireless card.

Don't forget to buy a 1gb sd card for your player (if it does not have large built in memory chip) so you can access online stuff.

Consequently depending on your other setup dont forget an optical audio cable and hdmi for video.

If you are connecting blu ray to a router/modem.. it would go into ethernet out #1

You'll want to look at your router and see if it has the ethernet extra connections in the back. If there are no physical jacks in the router, you may be able to go straight from your modem to your BR player, but you'll lose internet on all other devices of course. The best way to do this is to have what above mentioned router with wireless and ethernet jacks. Best of luck to you!

Dude, it's like a $3 cable. You can get it a wal-mart. If it needs a hard-wired connection, that's really the only way. Or get something like this:
    http://www.radiolabs.com/products/wireless/networking/buffalo-ethernet-converter.php

What kind of connection does it have? I'm assuming Cat-5 eithernet if it's requiring a hardwired setup. if it has a USB port, you can get a wireless USB adapter.

Cheapest and easiest though is running a cable.

you can download updates from your pc and upload them to your player with a usb card, so you still dont have to have it connected to the internet, thats how ours is anyway...

True, but man, I failed at that. Tried for like 2 days to get that work. Finally said screw it. bought 30 feet of Cat-5 cable and 2 connectors from lowes for $5 and made myself and long ethernet cable so i could reach an ethernet Jack in my house.

(here's the stinker, the guy who built my house, wired it all up for ethernet and cat-5 but didn't put an outlet behind the area for the home theater. idiot.)

Running a cable to mine would be out of the question too since they're on completely different floors. However, I just use my PS3 for Bluray and that's on my wireless network so it's not a problem. And I use my Tivo to stream Netflix stuff and that's on wireless too.
