Yup he will need to add or change the setting to allow anyone to add. Its an option you can select when starting the convo or can be changed by the person that starts it later.

I dunno, I'm struggling lol. I'm supposed to get my oil changed there tomorrow and the salesman said I should get an estimate of what they'd give me if I'm considering upgrading...

If you want one it doesn’t hurt to see what the numbers would be. Just go into it being willing to walk away if you don’t get the deal you want. I don’t allow myself to get attached to something until I know it’s what I want at the deal I want it. With the car I just got my wife asked when I test drive it aren’t you excited. I said nope I’ll be happy once I make the final decision and it’s on the way home with me.

Do your own research first regarding value of the current truck. Even a quick search on KBB.com. Toggle between private party and trade in. They are most likely going to offer KBB fair value for trade in. That is BS. The fair is related to condition of the vehicle, doesn’t mean it is a “fair” offer. If you own the current truck outright, consider selling private party as you should make more, or use that as a negotiation point as they won’t have the opportunity to profit if you sell it private party.

I prefer to talk price for the new truck before talking trade value, down payment, or what you want to pay monthly. Don’t even talk financing or payments yet. Focus on the new vehicle price. There are plenty of calculators online to figure out what payments will be.

The only numbers I’m concerned with are the sale price of the new, and then trade value. Don’t buy based off of their monthly payment calculations. They can mess with those numbers to maximize their profit.

Talk to your bank to see if you can finance through them, and see what rate you can get. My bank approves me, and sends me a blank check I can write up to X amount, basically becoming a cash buyer, making the paperwork easier. Use this to negotiate as well, they lose money if you don’t finance through them.

Toyota finance actually beat my banks finance rate so I ended up going through them. I agree, know your numbers before walking in there or they’ll take advantage of you. Also don’t be afraid to tell them there going to have to do better on the trade. I told the last one you’re giving me this for the trade in or it’s not happening. He laughed said that wasn’t going to happen. He ended up adding 2k more to the trade In and taking 2k off the price. It came out the same and I got what I wanted. Got to be able to walk if they won’t work with you though. Amazing how they decide they can do stuff when you start walking away. Had one one time do that and I said “I told you you had one chance to not try and screw me.” He called me back a week later to try and get me back in. Told him I bought a truck the next morning from a dealer that wanted to sell a truck not maximize profits. He asked what I paid and then said that’s under our cost. Well maybe you need to more more product to get a better deal bruh. Quit relying on screwing the military guys in town for max profits.

Coming from a friend who was a GM at a Ford dealership for 20+ years he said cash buyers have less power because they make less off them in the long haul.

He also said they don’t go by KBB they use something else can’t remember right off what he said though.

Had the same issue with the old Toyota dealership in Weatherford didn’t want to deal with a cash sale and wouldn’t find the truck I wanted.
