Hey - I am trying to decide between purchasing a cap or the decked/truck vault bed storage systems for my 2014 Double Cab Tacoma (links below). While i am interested in the camper/cap rack for rooftop use (fly fishing gear), I also am attracted to the bed storage for the locking ability and overall utility. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any experience with either. Thanks!

Cap: Some sort of Leer or ARE basic Cap
    Bed Storage: https://decked.com/products/decked-toyota-tacoma

    Thanks!

    Just some stuff...
Don't know much about the decked system, but from what I've seen why not both? Though it would be pretty spendy.

I added a Bakflip MX4 in conjunction with the factory bed divider. The factory bed divider would not fit since you have to relocate the rails so I cut a little bit off each end.

I added some collapsible totes that I got from Costco that work for storage. The bed cover combined with the locking tailgate is enough security for me. it is kind of like having a truck box that locks except it looked a little bit better in my opinion.

The good thing about doing it this way is I can adjust how much storage that I need with the bed divider. I can also remove all of this quickly if I have to pick up a larger item. So I basically don’t lose any of my bed capacity.

I like how this looks a lot. My tailgate does not lock, so I would need to replace my handle in order to find that security piece im looking for, but I do like how that looks a lot!

I have enjoyed my decked system. I got lucky and picked it up used for $550.

The locking handle would make things a lot easier to secure. I really like the Decked system, but for less money I got the Bakflip on a Black Friday deal and the divider off of Craigslist. That brought the cost to under $1k which was my goal.

The weight of the decked is essentially the same as the cap if I’m not mistaken, I would also consider that

Depends entirely how you use your truck. Decked is bad ass, can still stand stuff up on top of it. Tonneau you can roll up and put stuff in it. Cap limits your height, but is typically weather tight and more lockable room. Personally not a fan of caps because I use my bed outside the realm of sleeping and locking valuables.

I haven’t noticed any difference in increased wind noise over that of the Prinsu roof rack which added noticeable wind noise at highway speed.

I get the rear view is blocked

I keep my back seat headrests up, so visibility out the back window is not good anyway, so I never really use it much. The backup camera and side mirrors are good with me

I have a cap with a DIY drawer system. I would not have it any other way. Lockable, dry, organized storage.
